Ensō Therapeutic Wellness

Ensō Therapeutic Wellness Therapeutic therapies treat the root cause of dis-ease and not the symptoms. Symptoms are warning signs that the body is in distress.

It requires a holistic approach to clearing "blockages" that prevents the body from functioning as it was designed to.

A short new piece in the Journal for Women's Day weekend.

Me-time has, unfairly, developed a reputation as indulgence — as though an hour spent on yourself is an hour taken from someone else. The opposite is closer to the truth. An hour of considered rest — a bath, a book, a walk, an hour on a treatment table — resets the nervous system in ways a snatched break cannot.

If you have been meaning to book but keep deferring, the long weekend is a natural moment to stop deferring.

A new piece in the Journal, and a small piece of advice from someone who spends her working hours with other people's feet in her hands: wear the warm socks.

There is a physiological curiosity that most of us do not know — falling asleep is not just about a tired mind. It is also about your feet. Cold feet delay sleep; warm feet invite it.

The full piece — with what Traditional Chinese Medicine has to say about the Kidney meridian, and four practical sock notes from a lifelong devotee — is on the website.

A new piece in the Journal for International Self-Care Day today.

Self-Care, Slowly is a reflection on reclaiming the word from an industry that has captured it. Self-care, in the practice's understanding, is what you do when nobody is watching. Sleep protected. A meal eaten slowly. A phone put down. A body listened to.

None of the small daily acts that actually restore the nervous system require a subscription. Almost all of them are available today.

Revisiting a piece from earlier this year, and one that has been feeling especially relevant as winter deepens.

Sleep is not the absence of activity. It is, in many ways, the most generous medicine the body knows how to make for itself. What happens overnight — the memory consolidation, the metabolic clearing, the cellular repair — is some of the most important work our bodies do all day.

The full piece, including how nervous-system-led therapies can support the conditions for deep rest, is on the website:

A reminder from earlier this year in the Journal — one of the simplest, oldest, and most underrated wellness practices there is: bare feet on the earth.

Earthing (also called grounding) is the practice of making direct physical contact with the surface of the Earth — grass, sand, soil, natural stone. The science behind it is remarkably compelling: free electrons absorbed through the soles of the feet appear to act as antioxidants, gently supporting the nervous system toward calm.

For anyone who missed it, the full piece is on the website:

Healing doesn't only happen on the treatment table. 🌿
At Ensō, we talk a lot about balance — in the body, in energy, in daily rhythm. And sometimes balance looks like this: black rice, edamame, avocado, cucumber, heirloom tomatoes, feta and toasted almonds, brought together with a glossy sesame drizzle.
Every colour in this bowl is doing quiet work — anti-inflammatory greens, antioxidant-rich black rice, healthy fats to nourish the nervous system. Food, like touch, is one of the gentlest forms of therapy we have.
Small, intentional choices. That's where wellness begins. ✨

Ensō Therapeutic Wellness has a new home online.
The practice itself hasn't moved — I'm still working from 167 Bellairs Drive in North Riding, still offering Therapeutic Reflexology, Bowen Therapy, and Reiki by appointment. What's new is the website: a calmer, simpler space where you can find current treatment information, my credentials, a small Journal of seasonal articles, and a direct path to booking through Fresha.
A few practical updates worth noting:
· New website: ensotherapeuticwellness.co.za

· New WhatsApp number: +27 71 387 1123

· New email: [email protected]
If you've followed the practice from the old website, please update your contacts when you have a moment — the old number and address will phase out in the coming months.
Looking forward to seeing you, soon or whenever the time is right.

**☀️ Sunday Morning Shenanigans in the Kitchen ☀️**

Have you ever just felt like *creating* and playing with your food? 😄

This Sunday, something shifted. Fresh off a beautiful retreat with my daughter, I walked into my kitchen and instead of just making breakfast… I made *art*. 🍳✨

Heirloom cherry tomatoes in every colour, a tangle of fresh microgreens, fried eggs on toast with a smoky roasted pepper sauce, a kiss of spring onion — and suddenly breakfast felt like a love letter to the morning.

Here's what I know for certain: **food tastes so much better when it looks beautiful.** When you slow down, when you arrange, when you play — you're already nourishing yourself before the first bite. 🌿

This little creative streak was sparked by time well spent with my girl, and I'm not letting it go anytime soon. More yummy dishes to follow — watch this space! 👀

What's the most creative thing you've ever made in the kitchen? Drop it in the comments! 👇
