HER2 (Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2) is a protein on the surface of some breast cancer cells that promotes cell growth.
When there are too many copies of the
HER2 gene or too much HER2 protein, cancer cells grow and divide more quickly.
HER2-positive breast cancers make up about
15-20% of all breast cancers.
