Little Grayson is just one year old, yet he has already spent much of his young life in hospital fighting battles no child should face. Despite everything, he remains the happiest little boy.

He laughs when his daddy throws him gently into the air, smiles from ear to ear when his mommy covers his cheeks with kisses, adores his big sister’s attention, loves bath time, and never tires of listening to his favourite song, BINGO.

Behind that beautiful smile is a very difficult journey. Grayson is currently undergoing treatment for hepatoblastoma (liver cancer).

He has already endured multiple rounds of chemotherapy and major medical interventions. During his third cycle of chemotherapy he developed severe breathing difficulties and metabolic acidosis, resulting in an admission to Intensive Care. Grayson is currently in ICU, and we kindly ask that you keep him in your prayers for a full and speedy recovery.

Cancer is only one part of Grayson’s story. He also lives with cerebral palsy, significant hearing loss, an unknown genetic syndrome, scoliosis, delayed developmental milestones, camptodactyly affecting his hands, and severe craniofacial abnormalities that make oral feeding impossible. He is entirely dependent on tube feeding and now requires a permanent feeding pump for all of his nutrition and medication.

At L’chaim Carers Agency we are privileged to walk this journey with Grayson and his family through the dedicated care of our caregiver, Beulah. Her patience, gentleness and commitment bring comfort to Grayson every day.

While medical aid has been invaluable, many of Grayson’s essential daily needs fall outside of what is covered. The family faces ongoing costs for specialised nursing care, formula, feeding equipment, adaptive clothing and specialised genetic testing overseas.

We wanted to share a special update about one of the precious little ones in our care, Chai Netanel Matityahu (Matty).

Matty is a true fighter. Thanks to the love of his family and the dedicated care of our incredible infant caregiver, Marvelous, he continues to make inspiring progress. He is learning to sit, has gained almost full head control, his seizures are as controlled as possible, and most wonderfully, his eyesight is beginning to return. Even his doctors have called it a miracle.

Matty is currently back in hospital. He was admitted with metabolic acidosis and is struggling with severe gastric and feeding issues. He is scheduled for surgery this week, which we hope will bring him greater comfort.

The journey continues. In the coming months his family needs support for a specialised standing frame, a new wheelchair pram, feeding equipment, ongoing caregiving, intensive therapies, and the possibility of stem cell treatment overseas once he is stable.
