Is screen time damaging? The short answer: it depends.

What matters most isn’t the number of minutes—but what your child is watching, how they’re engaging with it, and what it might be replacing.

Screens aren’t inherently harmful. They can be when they replace connection, quality time, regulation, play and learning. But- they can also offer calm connection, curiosity or even learning—when used with intention.

Instead of guilt, let’s focus on balance.
Instead of shame, let’s get curious together.

You’re not failing if you use screens sometimes. You’re human. And your child doesn’t need perfection—they just need you. So maybe it’s about finding the right educational content and using it as a tool for talking.

What do you do?

Here’s the truth: public tantrums aren’t parenting failures. They’re just your child having a hard time—with an audience.

You don’t need to stop the tantrum immediately. You just need to stay steady, connected, and clear.

Gentle doesn’t mean permissive. Firm doesn’t mean harsh.

You can hold the boundary and the child.
