AMITY HEALTH CONSORTIUM (AHC) CLINICAL MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

AHC clinical mentorship is a system of practical training and consultation that fosters ongoing professional development to yield sustainable high-quality clinical care outcomes. It is a six weeks competency-based practical training program following a 3-5-Day Didactic clinical training course on TB, DR-TB and HIV/AIDS co-infection. Clinical expertise in managing Drug Resistant Tuberculosis (DR-TB), Tuberculosis (TB), antiretroviral therapy (and opportunistic infections) etc is often not found in the district, sub-district management team in programme that are starting to scale up differentiated models of DR-TB patient centered care and HIV/Diabetes etc co-infection treatment. An experienced DR-TB clinical mentor in the programmatic and clinical management of DR-TB (PMDT) context is a clinician with substantial expertise in DR-TB and antiretroviral therapy as well as opportunistic infections who can provide ongoing mentoring to less-experienced clinical providers by responding to questions, reviewing DR-TB clinical cases in the era of increasing anti-microbial resistant, providing feedback and assisting in case management. This is very crucial with the introduction of novel (Bedaquiline, Delamanid etc) and re-purposed (Clofazimine, Linezolid etc) anti-TB agents in an effort to improve treatment outcome, decrease case fatality and loss-to-follow-up rate. This mentoring occurs during teaching ward rounds, out-patient clinic consultations, outreach clinic visits, as well as via ongoing phone and e-mail consultation help desk at our toll free call center.
