Workplace Skills creates a ripple effect that strengthens teams, facilities, families and communities.

In the caring sector especially, workplace skills are the foundation that helps people show up confidently and function well in real work environments.

By building practical, employable skills, it helps both employed and unemployed South Africans become more work-ready and gives them a stronger chance to grow in a field that truly needs skilled, reliable people.

At Aloe Care Trainify, training isn’t “nice in theory”, it’s designed for real care environments, where every day brings real people, real needs, and real responsibility.

That’s why our training combines structured theory with practical learning, including on-the-job training in a facility. It’s not just about knowing what to do, it’s about learning how to do it confidently, correctly, and with compassion.

When carers feel supported and capable, care becomes calmer and everyone benefits.

If you’ve worked with someone living with dementia (in a facility or at home), what’s the most challenging part day-to-day?

Comment with the number that fits best:
1️⃣ Communication
2️⃣ Behaviour changes / agitation
3️⃣ Safety (falls, wandering)
4️⃣ Personal care routines (bathing, dressing)
5️⃣ Eating / medication routines
6️⃣ Supporting families
7️⃣ Burnout / emotional load

Your answers help us create training content that’s practical and truly useful for carers.

𝗠𝘆𝘁𝗵: “Dementia is just normal ageing.”
𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵: Dementia is not a normal part of ageing.

Yes, it’s common to become a little more forgetful as we get older, like misplacing keys or forgetting a name and remembering it later. But dementia involves changes that affect daily functioning, such as:
➡ struggling to follow familiar routines
➡ confusion about time or place
➡ difficulty communicating or finding words
➡ changes in judgement, mood, or behaviour

This is why proper training matters. When carers understand what dementia is (and what it isn’t), they can respond with more confidence, compassion, and the right support, protecting dignity and improving quality of life.

A person’s conscious level is how awake, alert and responsive they are, and in dementia, this can change during the day.

You might notice:
➡ more alert in the morning, more confused later
➡ slower responses
➡ drowsiness or “switching off”
➡ sudden changes in alertness

𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁: not every change is “just dementia.” It can be linked to dehydration, infection, pain or medication changes.

Did you know that dementia isn’t a single disease, it’s an umbrella term for a group of conditions that affect memory, thinking and daily functioning?

That’s why dementia care can look different from one person to the next. What works brilliantly for one resident may not work for another and that’s where trained, confident carers make a real difference.

We focus on helping carers build the skills and understanding to support residents with dignity, safety and compassion, in the small moments, every day.

Our aim is simple: to equip carers with practical, relevant skills that improve quality of care, build confidence and support growth in a field that is often underestimated.

Safety in dementia care isn’t only about preventing falls, it’s about creating an environment where residents feel secure, respected and supported.

Training equips carers to notice early warning signs, reduce risk and respond calmly, without taking away independence or dignity.
