We are delighted to share some exciting developments at Lourensriver Family Practice.

CARDIOVASCULAR ASSESSMENT SERVICE
Dr. Heindrich Louw has initiated a cardiovascular assessment service including a stress ECG machine and a 24-hour blood pressure monitor, allowing us to offer advanced cardiovascular testing. These tools will help us better assess your heart health and deliver an even higher standard of medical service.

VITALITY HEALTH CHECKS
Additionally, we are pleased to welcome Ms. Leonie Muskett-Yetts, our professional nurse, who will be conducting Vitality health checks right here at our practice. Appointments are available on Mondays from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, with flexible options during the week by prior arrangement.

INTRODUCING LOURENSRIVER FAMILY PRACTICE

Dr Allan Donkin
Dr Donkin grew up in Pretoria and qualified at the University of Pretoria in 2006. He completed his internship and community service years at Helderberg Hospital in Somerset West. He worked in general practice in Worcester as well as in Canada for a few years before returning to Somerset West in 2014 where he continues to work in GP practice. Dr Donkin has a diploma in palliative medicine from the University of Cape Town. He is a proud husband and father of 3 boys and a girl. Dr Donkin is looking forward to continuing to serve his patients and the community at the brand new premises of Lourensriver Family Practice.

Dr Heindrich Louw
Heindrich hails from the Helderberg basin. He attended the local primary school De Hoop and attended high school in Stellenbosch. He completed his tertiary studies at Stellenbosch University in 2015, graduating with a medical degree and completing his internship and community service at Worcester hospital and the Community Health centre. He has a passion and curiosity to understand history, philosophy and the origin of ideas and this led him to enrol at a Christian liberal arts school, Augustine college in Ottawa, Canada. There he completed the 6 month ‘modern’ course. Thereafter he worked in multiple Emergency centers across the Western cape for 2 years and eventually ended up at a Cardiology unit in Kuilsriver. He was full time employed as a medical officer for 4 years and assisted with the clinical management for 1 year. During the course of 2023 he started his Masters in Biomedical ethics and is currently still busy completing his thesis He loves internal medicine and all the intricacies of the healthcare field. His lovely wife, Michaela Louw whom he met at University, joins him at Lourensriver Family practice as a functional medicine doctor.

Deidre Meissenheimer
Deidre Meissenheimer is a born and bred Helderberg resident. She has a passion for patients and was the receptionist at Vergelegen Family Practice for a number of years before joining the Lourensriver Family Practice. Deidre enjoys gardening and baking sour-dough bread. She is excited for this new venture.
