Thobekile Madela has been behind the wheel for 22 years but getting the opportunity to make driving her career was not always easy.

She still remembers the doors that closed on her. Being told that driving wasn’t a role for women, and that motherhood would make her less reliable behind the wheel.

But everything shifted when CJ Distribution gave her a chance. It wasn’t just a job offer, it was an opening to prove what she already knew about herself.

Today, after 22 years on the road, Thobekile Madela delivers far more than parcels. Nomusa Thamene’s story is not only about what she has been through. It’s about what she chose to do next.

After experiencing depression, getting help gave her new ways to cope with stress and trauma and a deeper appreciation for her health.

As a mother of four boys, she is taking those lessons forward by raising them to respect women and helping shape a different future for the generation after hers.
