Health Promotion South Africa Trust® is a non-profit organization providing information and training in health and hygiene to prevent illness in the townships of Southern Africa. Thousands of people, especially children, are d

ying every year as a result of limited knowledge about hygiene and illness prevention. Children die, for example, from diarrhoea, infections and other illnesses that can be prevented by providing simple basic information and training to aid workers and the local population. Our Health Promoters® are providing this basic information and training in the form of workshops with excellent, promising results. The Health Promotion South Africa Trust® is based in South Africa with supporting organizations in the Netherlands and the United States of America.

It is wonderful to see Esethu growing into a passionate and confident facilitator. With enthusiasm, patience, and genuine care, she is not only sharing knowledge with her students but also inspiring and empowering them.

We are delighted to welcome Afikile Matshayana to the Health Promoters family as our new Senior Health Promoter at our Strand Centre.

As we continue to strengthen and expand our work in the Strand community, we are excited to have someone with Afikile’s passion and expertise join our team. Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, she brings valuable insight into the cognitive, social, and emotional needs of the communities we serve. Her understanding of the biopsychosocial approach to healthcare perfectly aligns with our vision of empowering people through education, prevention, and community-based care.

We believe Afikile will play an important role in the next chapter of Health Promoters as we continue to bring hope, knowledge, and healthier futures to vulnerable communities across the Cape Town townships.

🎓 What an incredible week!

Last week, we celebrated another successful graduation in Mfuleni. Thanks to Esethu’s outstanding organisation, the ceremony was held at a beautiful hotel venue and became a truly memorable event. It was a proud milestone for all the students who received their certificates.

But the journey doesn’t stop there! 💙 Esethu has already started a new training programme, continuing our mission of empowering communities through education and knowledge transfer.

🎓✨ A new opportunity begins! ✨🎓

Today we celebrated the graduation of our students in Kayamandi. We are incredibly proud of everyone who successfully completed our 5-week Health Awareness Training! 👏💙

And we’re already looking ahead, because a new training programme will be starting soon. In just five weeks, participants gain valuable knowledge about health, prevention, and well-being. 🌍❤️

💼 For some of our students, this certificate has become the first step towards finding employment. That’s exactly why we do what we do!

📚 Would you like to continue your studies? Students who complete our awareness training will receive an excellent discount on our Health Promoter Officer programme once it officially launches as an accredited qualification. We are currently in the accreditation process with QCTO.

Yesterday, the Dutch Haringparty took place at Hotel-Restaurant Opus One in Numansdorp, organized in collaboration with Jabulani Mixology and Vino d'Amigo.

This wonderful group of entrepreneurs has embraced Health Promoters and will continue to support our organization through future events and activities. We are incredibly grateful for their commitment and generosity.

Despite the extreme heatwave in the Netherlands, with temperatures exceeding 40°C in some areas, attendance was lower than usual. Nevertheless, it was a wonderful and successful evening.

During the event, orange footballs filled with vodka were auctioned. Thanks to the auction and the generosity of everyone involved, a total of €412 was raised to support the Health Promoters’ projects in the townships of South Africa.

On behalf of Health Promoters, Eddy Robles was present to receive the cheque.

A heartfelt thank you to Opus One👏🏾, Jabulani Wines, Vino d’Amigo, and everyone who contributed to making this evening a success. Your support helps us continue providing life-saving health education to communities that need it most.
