“All other diets and weight loss attempts I’ve done before have focused on eating as little as possible and fasted workouts. As a strength athlete, that’s the opposite of what I want to be doing.”

^^^ THIS.

People have been so bombarded by all the free information everywhere, that are techinically correct… but correct FOR WHO?? Because generic advice and advice that actually fits and supports your life are two entirely different things.

Becklyn started working with Fiercely Fueled in August of 2025 wanting to get stronger, lose some body fat, and finally learn how to fuel herself long term.

Her biggest challenge wasn’t her weekdays - those were solid. It was the weekends - eating out, traveling, and feeling like one unplanned meal undid everything she’d worked for during the week.

And that’s actually what gets most athletes stuck in the start-again-on-Monday cycle. It’s not the extra meal. It’s not even the weekend. It’s the lack of a SYSTEM that lets you enjoy a dinner out with a friend - and just get back on track after. No guilt and no spiraling into a restriction binge just to “make up for it”.

That’s what she and Coach Joni worked on. And it paid off.

Becklyn hit PRs on all 3 lifts at her November meet, competed in a DEKA race and did better than she ever expected - and lost almost 60lbs in the process. 🥳

Food freedom. Body confidence. Performance that actually reflects your hard work. That’s what we do here at Fiercely Fueled.

If you’re ready for your own version of this - apply for coaching via the link in bio xx

Excessive soreness doesn’t mean you’re working hard - it means you’re recovering badly.

I didn’t even know how freaking good my body could feel until I started eating enough, and sleeping properly. My body felts soooooo great, I didn’t feel foggy or lethargic, I didn’t realise how sore I was from training until it disappeared…

Inside the Performance Accelerator we help athletes track their individual recovery capacity by looking at training soreness, training energy and training quality. Often there is a direct and immediate improvement in all metrics when we add in carbs (and yes, we can track it and see it in the data too).

The screenshots in this post are from an experience athlete who just started working with us, within the first month her soreness was reduced by 75% and her energy increased by 33% - we didn’t do ANYTHING except fine-tune her meal timing.

I’ve noticed this with so many athletes we work with too. They think being sore all the time is normal, but once we make a few small changes they realized just how much they were leaving on the table in terms of their recovery.

If you’re constantly sore, tired, and creaky from training, you’ll love what you’ll learn in our Performance Accelerator. In phase one of the program, we dive deep into your habits, your life, and give you quick, easy-to-implement tips on training nutrition so you can really make the most of your training.

If you think soreness = progress, let’s dig into where that belief comes from. Send me a DM - I’d love to hear your thoughts.

It’s sub-junior and junior worlds in South Africa and I came up to hang with some friends and see some lifting.

Something that doesn’t sit right at all with me is just being in and around the juniors (under 18) I noticed they are so focused on cutting, making weight, most specially the girls. Like it’s cute to be taking baggies of your own food on a transatlantic flight and lugging around a 128oz water bottle and posting to snap chat.

These kids cannot legally open account ….

I’ll be blunt: I don’t think sub-junior powerlifters should be cutting weight for competition. Period.

Apart from the fact an adolescent is still growing, what kind of mental damage are we doing encouraging girls to diet?

And I think we need to question what we’re teaching young female athletes when one of their first lessons in competitive sport is: “cut to compete”.

Dieting during adolescence has been associated with increased risk of disordered eating and eating disorders. Girls who diet are 18 times more likely to develop an eating disorder later in life.

In young female athletes, low energy availability also raises concerns around menstrual function, bone development, recovery and mental health.

That doesn’t mean every teenager who cuts weight will develop an eating disorder.

It means the potential consequences are significant enough that competing at a world level isn’t a good enough reason for me.

My philosophy with sub-juniors is pretty simple.

If she’s 64.8 kg, she’s a 69 kg lifter.

Then feed her. Teach her. Let her grow. Teach her that gaining muscle might mean gaining body weight.

Why are we even letting the concept of “cutting” enter the chat for children in powerlifting?

Interestingly, I’ve notice that most of the coaches on the circuit are male. Now I don’t know if it is related. But I also don’t know that it isn’t.

I thought a lot about posting this. Worried that you’ll think that I’m a silly old goose for worrying about this. But I do. So much of the work I do with women today is unraveling their experiences as a kid.

Is it just a case sensitizing people to the fact cutting is a norm and it shouldn’t be?

With technology being what it is - you don’t even need a coach right?  MacroFactor can calculate your macros. AI can build you a meal plan. You can Google what to eat before training. Reddit will tell you what pre-workout is the best.

The information is everywhere.

But knowing in principle you should eat 250g of carbs and knowing how to **leverage those carbs to become a better athlete** are two very different things.

Are you eating enough around training? Are you recovering? Is your bodyweight doing what we expect? Are you getting stronger? Is 250g even still right for you?

The goal isn’t to make you really good at hitting macros. It’s to get you to the point where you understand nutrition, where you can adapt when life or training changes, and you know when nutrition is reason you’re sore and tired, and when it isn’t.

That’s what we build inside the Performance Accelerator.

If you’re hitting your macros but your’e not getting stronger and your training isn’t getting better - its not your macros.

If you’d like a bit of help figuring it out - you’ll find the link to apply in bio.

Caffeine is one of the most researched performance supplements out there - but here’s what most people miss: caffeine doesn’t create energy, it just blocks the signal in your brain that tells you you’re tired. Those are not the same thing.

If you’re training early morning, I get that you don’t feel like eating - no one does at that time of day TBH. But training on a scoop of $60 pre-workout ain’t it either.

Most pre-workouts have caffeine, as well as a bunch of other ingredients your body doesn’t need.

What your body DOES NEED is carbs - and the AM crew will do so well to get in 20g to 40g of fast digesting carbs before training. I guarantee you that this will make more of a difference to your session than your pre-workout.

If you absolutely MUST have you’re pre-workout - I get it, but let’s make it WORK for you - follow along here and I’ll be sharing the best strategies around caffeine dosing (according to the science) as well as more nutrition advice tailored for strength athletes.

If you want to learn exactly how to introduce carbs to your training without getting up an hour earlier to eat - drop the word ‘GUIDE’ below and I’ll send it over to you.
