Today marked an exciting new chapter for us at Busamed Gateway Private Hospital as we officially opened our new ICU and High Care Unit and launched our Cardiac Care Unit.

This is more than just new facilities and more beds. These units are the actualisation of our unwavering commitment to ensuring that more patients have access to the specialised care they need, when they need it most and close to home. The additional ICU and High Care beds will help us care for more critically ill patients, while our new Cardiac Care Unit offers a dedicated space for patients who need specialised heart care.

This expansion is about people – our patients, their families, and our healthcare teams who work tirelessly every day to provide exceptional care. It means more capacity, more support, and greater peace of mind for those who trust us with their health.

A heartfelt thank you to our Executive Management team, specialists, nurses, staff members, partners, and guests who joined us in celebrating this important occasion. We look forward to continuing our journey of caring for our community with compassion, expertise, and excellence.

This expansion will enhance critical care capacity, support specialised treatment, and strengthen our commitment to delivering world-class healthcare to the community.

Congratulations to the Gateway TAVI team Dr Asherson, Dr Winter, and Dr Padoa who successfully completed their 150th transcatheter aortic valve replacement this week in a procedure that took only 40 minutes under local anaesthetic.

TAVI is a life-changing procedure and is now the treatment of choice for the majority of older patients with severe aortic stenosis. Credit also to the skill, care, dedication, and teamwork of the cath lab and ICU1 nursing staff.

Mr Ferguson featured in the image with Dr Asherson was officially the 150th TAVI patient to receive treatment at Busamed Gateway Private Hospital.

Well done to all on this amazing milestone.
