Your skincare routine doesn’t need to be complicated. 🤎

Sometimes we’re doing too much — too many products, too many actives, constantly changing routines — when what the skin actually needs is the right routine used consistently.

Good skin starts with understanding your skin, not copying someone else’s routine.

Simple. Individualised. Consistent.

Why do my dark marks keep coming back?

This is something I hear so often in consultations.

You use a product, the marks start fading… and a few weeks or months later, they seem to be back again.

Sometimes the problem isn’t that your skincare “didn’t work.”

The cause of the pigmentation may still be there.

Acne, inflammation, irritation, picking, friction, sun exposure — and sometimes even an overly complicated skincare routine — can continue triggering pigmentation.

And this is why treating dark marks isn’t simply about finding the strongest brightening product.

We need to understand what is causing them.

Because post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, melasma and other forms of pigmentation may look similar, but they don’t necessarily need the same approach.

🤎 Treat the cause, not only the mark.

Hair loss is not a diagnosis.

One of the things I often see is people looking for a treatment for hair loss before understanding why the hair is being lost.

Is it traction alopecia? Androgenetic alopecia? CCCA? Telogen effluvium?

We look at the pattern of hair loss, the scalp and the history before deciding on a treatment plan.

PRP may be appropriate for some patients — but it is not automatically the answer to every type of hair loss.

Assessment first. Treatment second. 🤎

Consultations available in Umhlanga, Ballito, Johannesburg & Richards Bay.

When we talk about ageing, we often immediately think about Botox and dermal fillers — but ageing is about much more than wrinkles.

Changes may include pigmentation, changes in skin texture, loss of volume and other changes in the skin and supporting structures.

Sometimes the right approach is adjusting your skincare routine. Sometimes we focus on improving skin quality and texture. And sometimes injectable treatments may be appropriate.

The important question isn’t “What can we inject?”
It’s “What has actually changed?”

That’s why I believe in assessing first and treating what is actually needed.

Healthy ageing should always be individualised. 🤎

Are you changing your skincare products too often?

When results don’t come quickly, it’s tempting to keep adding or changing products. But more products don’t necessarily mean better skin.

Sometimes the first step is understanding what is actually happening in your skin — and giving the right treatment enough time to work.

Assessment → Diagnosis → Individualised care.

Your skin deserves more than guesswork.

Pigmentation, acne, changes in skin texture, hair loss and signs of ageing may look similar on the surface—but they can have different underlying causes.

That is why we assess before we treat.

During your consultation, we listen to your concerns, examine your skin or hair and develop an individualised treatment plan based on your needs and goals.

Good treatment begins with:

• Assessment
• Diagnosis
• An individualised plan

Not trends. Not guesswork. Individualised care.

We often think ageing = wrinkles. But facial ageing is much more than imibimbi.

With time, we can also see changes in collagen, facial volume, skin laxity and overall skin texture.

This is why good aesthetic medicine shouldn’t simply be about “removing wrinkles.” It starts with understanding what has actually changed in your face — and deciding whether anything needs to be treated at all.

The goal is not to look like someone else.
The goal is to understand your skin and age well, while still looking like you. 🤎

One of the biggest skincare mistakes I see? Changing products too quickly.

You start a new routine, use it for a few days or a couple of weeks… then decide it’s “not working” and move on to something else.

But skincare needs consistency and time. And when you keep introducing new products, it becomes difficult to know what is actually helping your skin — or what may be making things worse.

✨ Give the right products time to work.
✨ Keep your routine simple.
✨ And most importantly, make sure you are treating the right diagnosis, not just what you see on the surface.

Healthy skin is not about constantly chasing the next product. It’s about understanding your skin and treating it intentionally.

What’s the longest you’ve actually stayed consistent with one skincare routine? 👇🏾

Why are your dark marks not fading?

Sometimes the problem isn’t that you haven’t found the “right” product. The problem may be that we haven’t established why the pigmentation is happening in the first place.

Hyperpigmentation can follow acne, inflammation, irritation, hormonal changes, sun exposure and other skin conditions.

That’s why I always emphasise: dark marks are not a diagnosis.

Before adding another serum or changing your entire routine, understand what you are treating.

Assess first. Diagnose. Then treat.

Why are your dark marks not fading? 🤎

One of the most common things I hear is:

“Doctor, I’ve tried everything, but these dark marks are just not going away.”

So we try another serum. Another cream. Another “brightening” product.

But sometimes the most important question isn’t “What should I use?”

It’s “Why did this pigmentation develop in the first place?”

Acne, inflammation, irritation, hormonal changes and other causes of pigmentation may need different approaches.

Especially in melanin-rich skin, we need to be careful not to create more irritation while trying to treat the pigmentation.

Understand the cause. Protect the skin. Then treat appropriately. 🤎
