We are currently providing essential health services at the eNetHealth South Africa Official event commemorating the African Traditional Medicine Day that is celebrated on the 31st of August annually that is held at Zone 7, Sebokeng. This event is an initiative aimed at promoting awareness and understanding of both Western and African medicines and their role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our communities.

The event brings together various health stakeholders and exhibitors, including stalls showcasing scientifically approved medicines, and The Homeopathic Association of South Africa, will provide an opportunity for community members to engage, learn and make informed decisions about their health.

🩺💊🌱 Through initiatives such as these, Sedibeng District Health Services continues to take healthcare services and health education closer to communities , while encouraging responsible and informed use of medicines.

Give girls lifelong protection against cervical cancer with the one-shot HPV vaccine. Parents, guardians and caregivers are encouraged to support the 2026 Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Single-Dose Vaccination Campaign by signing and returning consent forms. Running from 03 August to 09 October 2026, the campaign aims to protect eligible girls against cervical cancer through vaccinations provided at independent primary and combined schools, outstanding public primary schools, and special schools across Gauteng.

Sihle Mnyandu, the HIV Prevention Coordinator at Ekurhuleni District, speaks about the launch of the new long acting HIV prevention injection, Lenacapavir (Len Jab).

She encourages people to continue using condoms because Len Jab only prevents HIV and does not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs) or unplanned pregnancies.

MEC for Health and Wellness says is launching the Lenacapavir HIV prevention jab today.

She encourages everyone who is HIV negative to visit their nearest clinic to access the jab.

MEC also reminded young people that teenage pregnancy is preventable and urged them to visit their nearest Adolescent and Youth Friendly Services (AYFS) centre at a public clinic to access HIV prevention, contraceptives and other youth friendly health services.

Today, Gauteng MEC for Health and Wellness, Faith Mazibuko, joined young people, healthcare workers and community stakeholders at Tsakane Stadium in Ekurhuleni for the Teenage Pregnancy Awareness Campaign and the launch of the long acting HIV prevention injection, Lenacapavir (Len Jab).

The campaign aims to raise awareness about preventing teenage pregnancy and HIV, while encouraging young people to make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health.

The event also provided young people with access to HIV testing, family planning, health screenings and other youth friendly health services as part of the Gauteng Department of Health's commitment to building healthier communities.
