🦴 WHAT’S INSIDE YOUR ARM?

Your arm is much more than just skin and bone.
Beneath the surface is a remarkable network of fat, muscles, tendons, nerves, blood vessels, joints and bones all working together to help you move, feel and use your arm every day.
Understanding what’s inside your body helps you better understand how it moves and what can go wrong when an injury occurs.

Your anatomy is the foundation of your movement.

🏃🏾‍♂️ When Is a Sports Injury More Than Just a Bruise?

Not every sports injury leaves a visible mark.
Sometimes, the damage is deeper inside the bone itself. A bruise usually affects the soft tissues around the bone, while a fracture means the bone has actually cracked or broken.

So when should you take the injury seriously?
⚠️ Watch for:
• Persistent, localized pain
• Significant swelling
• Difficulty putting weight through the limb
• Pain that isn’t improving as expected

These symptoms don’t automatically mean you have a fracture, but they do warrant proper assessment rather than simply playing through the pain.
Your body can sometimes tell you there’s more going on beneath the surface.
Don’t guess. Get it assessed.

🌙 Why does your shoulder hurt more at night?
You make it through the day… then you get into bed, and suddenly your shoulder starts aching.
You’re not imagining it.

Night-time shoulder pain can happen because certain sleeping positions place pressure on an already irritated shoulder. Conditions such as rotator cuff problems, bursitis, frozen shoulder, or shoulder arthritis can become particularly painful when you lie on the affected side or keep your shoulder in one position for a long time.
And if the pain is regularly waking you up, don’t simply accept it as “just getting older.”

Your shoulder may be telling you that something needs attention.
🎥 Watch the video to understand why shoulder pain can feel worse at night and what your sleeping position may have to do with it.

🦵 MEET YOUR HAMSTRING
Ever wondered what helps you bend your knee, extend your hip, and power your stride?
Meet your hamstrings a group of three major muscles at the back of your thigh: the biceps femoris, semitendinosus, and semimembranosus.

Together, they play an important role in everyday movement from walking and climbing stairs to running, jumping and changing direction.

Understanding your anatomy is the first step to understanding your movement. 💙

Your rotator cuff plays a crucial role in keeping your shoulder stable, strong and moving smoothly.
But when one of its tendons tears, everyday movements like reaching overhead, lifting or even getting dressed can become painful or difficult.

A rotator cuff tear can happen suddenly or develop gradually over time, and not every tear requires surgery.

The right treatment depends on the type of tear, your symptoms, your activity level and your individual needs.
If shoulder pain or weakness is affecting how you move, don’t simply push through it. Get it assessed.

🦵 Meet Your ACL

Small ligament. Big responsibility.
The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) sits deep inside your knee, connecting your thigh bone to your shin bone.
Its job is to help stabilise the knee, particularly during movements that involve changing direction, pivoting, slowing down or landing.
Think of it as part of your knee’s internal stability system—working every time you move, even when you don’t realise it.

Understanding your body is the first step to taking better care of it.

🦵 SPORTS INJURY FILES

Meniscus Tear: The Shock Absorber Inside Your Knee
Your knee has its own natural shock absorbers.
The medial and lateral menisci are crescent-shaped pieces of cartilage that sit between your thigh bone and shin bone. They help distribute load, absorb impact and contribute to knee stability every time you walk, run, jump or change direction.

But a sudden twist or forceful movement can cause the meniscus to tear.
A meniscus tear may cause:
🔹 Knee pain
🔹 Swelling
🔹 Clicking or catching
🔹 Stiffness
🔹 Difficulty fully bending or straightening the knee
Not every meniscus tear requires surgery. Treatment depends on the type and location of the tear, your symptoms, activity level and the overall condition of your knee.
Understanding the injury is the first step towards treating it properly.

Tennis elbow, even if you’ve never played tennis.

Despite its name, tennis elbow isn’t limited to tennis players. Repetitive gripping, lifting or wrist movements can place repeated stress on the tendons attached to the outside of your elbow.

You may notice:
🔹 Pain on the outside of the elbow
🔹 Tenderness
🔹 Pain when gripping or lifting
🔹 Discomfort when moving your wrist
🔹 Reduced grip strength

The condition is commonly known as lateral elbow tendinopathy and is usually related to repeated tendon loading rather than one single injury.
Treatment often focuses on reducing irritation and progressively rebuilding tendon strength through rehabilitation.
If persistent elbow pain is affecting your work, sport or everyday activities, don’t simply push through it.

Find out what’s causing the pain and get the right treatment.
