Meet the Maker 🤍

If you’re new here, hi. I’m Amanda Roodt, the face and hands behind ROODT MADE BY NATURE.

ROODT started with something very simple: my son, Milan, and a cloth nappy.

I wanted products for our home that made sense. Ingredients I understood. Things that actually worked. Less plastic, less clutter, less unnecessary fragrance and a lot more intention.

What started with making our own Boerseep and Baby Bum Balm slowly grew into what ROODT is today.

Since 2017, I’ve been making everything with the same principles I started with:

And yes, I still make the products myself.

How do we stop violence against women?

Spring Reset isn’t just your closet. Your pillows need it too 🌼

When was the last time you actually washed your pillows?

→ Yellow marks, a weird smell, or waking up stuffy
→ Ideally every 3–6 months, depending on use

How I wash mine in the washing machine:

1. Add your pillows to the washing machine, preferably two at a time to keep the load balanced.
2. Add your normal detergent + 2 scoops of Bio Bubbles.
3. Choose a gentle cycle with warm water, if the care label allows.
4. Run an extra rinse to make sure everything is thoroughly rinsed.
5. Dry completely. Tumble dry on low if suitable, or air dry in the sun, turning/fluffing them regularly.

Pillows collect sweat, body oils and dust over time, so giving them a proper wash is an easy part of your spring reset.

Just check the care label first. Some pillows, especially memory foam, aren’t suitable for the washing machine.

Save this for your spring clean. And send it to someone who has never washed their pillows 😅

1️⃣ Grate 1 bar of Roodt Boerseep
2️⃣ Add it to a 5L bucket
3️⃣ Pour in 4–5L boiling water (I prefer 4L for a thicker gel)
4️⃣ Stir and let the soap dissolve
5️⃣ Add your favourite essential oils
6️⃣ Allow it to cool and set into a smooth, gel-like texture
