CELEBRATING BREASTFEEDING WEEK,

As we commemorate World Breastfeeding Week 2026, Joe Morolong Memorial Hospital continues to promote the importance of breastfeeding as the best start in life for every child.

In the video below, Professional Nurse Sr K. Gonkgang explains the many benefits of breastfeeding for both mother and baby. Breastfeeding provides babies with the ideal nutrition, strengthens their immune system, supports healthy growth and development, while also promoting faster recovery after childbirth and reducing the mother’s risk of certain illnesses.

Together, let us support, protect and promote breastfeeding for healthier families and stronger communities.

Mandela Day 2026 | Making Every Minute Count

On 17 July 2026, Joe Morolong Memorial Hospital proudly commemorated Mandela Day by embracing the spirit of Ubuntu through acts of kindness and compassion.

Our patients visiting the Outpatient Department (OPD) were treated to coffee and freshly baked scones, followed by warm soup, bringing comfort and warmth while they waited to receive healthcare services.

In recognition of the unwavering dedication and commitment of our employees, the Acting Chief Executive Officer,Dr J.D. Kegakilwe also hosted a special staff appreciation lunch to thank our healthcare workers and support staff for their continued service to the community.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our generous sponsors for making this initiative a success:
