Have you perhaps been wondering why we thought it might be a good idea to let small babies float in moving water?
Well here's why...
β’ The movement of the water encourages babies to use their abdominal and back muscles, therefor enhancing muscle strength. This is important for babies to be able to roll and sit independently. There are jets blowing from two sides (we are able to adjust the intensity of the jets depending on the baby's abilities) and ozone (oxygen) bubbles blowing from below.
β’ Water is known to enhance gastrointestinal motility and therefor alleviating symptoms of reflux, colic and constipation.
β’ As baby is floating around in the water, feeling different movements as well as textures from the toys, new neurpathways are formed. They are also encouraged to discover their limbs i.e. what happens when they push against the side and moves in the opposite direction (proprioception).
β’ There comes a time when fear kicks in for all babies. We usually see that babies older that 7 months might be scared and upset when experience the feeling of weightlessness and movement of the water. Therefor introducing something like hydrotherapy from the newborn phase will make it much easier when your baby will have to go for swim lessons, since they would have already ovecome the fear of water.
β’ Hydrotherapy is quite tiring for most babies and therefor encourages better sleep.
Believe it or not but this is still just the tip of the iceberg. Feel free should you have any questions!
We believe that all babies can benefit from Hydrotherapy π¦
