WINTER EYES FEELING DRY & SCRATCHY? 👀❄️

Try these 3 quick fixes:
1. BLINK MORE
Screen time dries your eyes out fast. Especially in winter. Your eyes need blink breaks too.
2. DRINK WAY MORE WATER
Cold weather and indoor heating can dehydrate you without you even noticing... including your eyes.
3. ASK ABOUT SERUM EYE DROPS
These advanced drops are made using components from your own blood (a quick and easy process, we promise) and help soothe dry, uncomfortable eyes naturally.

If your eyes are constantly burning, watery or gritty this winter, contact the JHB Eye Laser Centre to ask about serum eye drops. Click herehttps://jhbeye.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/EYE-Serum.pdf

WINTER EYES OR DRY EYE? HERE’S HOW TO TELL

A little eye irritation during winter is manageable. But if your eyes constantly feel uncomfortable, your tear film could be struggling.

Common signs of dry eye include:
• A gritty or sandy sensation
• Burning or stinging eyes
• Blurry vision that comes and goes
• Sensitivity to light
• Eyes that water excessively
• Contact lenses suddenly feeling uncomfortable

It’s an interesting fact that watery eyes are a sign of dry eye. When the eyes become irritated, they often overproduce poor-quality tears in response. And winter doesn’t help. Indoor heaters, colder air, increased screen time, dry office environments, dust, and poor air quality caused by pollutants all play a role in affecting the eye’s natural moisture balance.

The good news is dry eye can often be managed very effectively once the underlying cause is identified.

Contact the JHB Eye Laser Centre -https://jhbeye.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/EYE-Serum.pdf - to discuss a quick and affordable solution namely autologous serum eye drops which are made using components from your own blood that closely resemble natural tears.

If your eyes constantly feel tired, scratchy or uncomfortable this winter, it may be time to stop blaming the weather.

Pampering the Hands That Care for Our Patients

Today, on Nurses Day, we celebrated our incredible nurses with a special hand-wash spoil to show our appreciation for all their hard work, dedication, and compassionate care. Each nurse was also gifted a genuine leather cellphone pouch and a nurse-themed cupcake as a small token of our gratitude.

We are truly thankful for everything our nurses do for our patients every day. Your kindness, commitment, and care make a difference in so many lives.

Happy Nurses Day from all of us at Johannesburg Eye Hospital.

Did you know that a Horse has the largest eyes of any land mammal

Horses have the largest eyes of any land animal.

Their wide-set eyes give them a nearly 350° field of view.

They can see both monocular (one eye) and binocular (both eyes) depending on head position.

Horses see motion very well — an important survival trait for prey animals.

They excel in low-light vision but struggle with depth perception directly in front of them.
