As World Sepsis Day comes to a close, we'd like to thank everyone who has taken the time to learn more about sepsis today.

Awareness saves lives.

Sepsis can affect anyone and can develop from an infection when the body's response causes damage to its own tissues and organs. Recognising the signs early and seeking urgent treatment can make a significant difference.

Before the day ends, please take a moment to familiarise yourself with the signs of sepsis and share this information with family and friends:

🔹 Confusion or slurred speech
🔹 Severe breathlessness
🔹 Extreme shivering or muscle pain
🔹 Not passing urine for a prolonged period
🔹 Pale, mottled or discoloured skin
🔹 Feeling very unwell or that something is seriously wrong

🚨 If you suspect sepsis, call 999 or attend A&E immediately. Sepsis is a medical emergency.

For non-emergency concerns about an infection or worsening symptoms, please contact Southend Coastal Surgeries or NHS 111 for advice.

Could you recognise the signs of sepsis?

On World Sepsis Day, Southend Coastal Surgeries is helping to raise awareness of a condition that can develop quickly and become life-threatening.

Sepsis happens when the body's response to an infection causes damage to its own tissues and organs. Acting quickly can make all the difference.

Remember the signs:

🔹 Confusion or slurred speech
🔹 Extreme shivering or severe muscle pain
🔹 Severe breathlessness
🔹 Not passing urine for a prolonged period
🔹 Pale, mottled or discoloured skin
🔹 Feeling very unwell or deteriorating rapidly

🚨 If you are concerned that someone may have sepsis, seek urgent medical help immediately by calling 999 or attending A&E.

For concerns about infections that are not emergencies, contact Southend Coastal Surgeries or NHS 111 for advice.

To help us process prescription requests safely and efficiently, please allow 72 working hours for your prescription to be processed.

You can request your repeat prescription in the following ways:

✅ Via the NHS App
✅ Through Anima
✅ By handing in your repeat prescription slip
✅ By submitting a written request to the surgery

❌ Please do not send prescription requests by email. Prescription requests received by email will not be actioned.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. Allowing sufficient time for processing helps us ensure prescriptions are issued safely and accurately.
