Connection matters more than we often realise.
In the busyness of everyday life, it can be easy to focus on schedules, homework, activities, and getting through the day. But one of the most important things our children need is something much simpler: feeling connected to their family.
Research consistently shows that children and teenagers who feel seen, heard, accepted, and connected at home are more likely to develop confidence, resilience, healthy relationships, and emotional wellbeing.
Connection doesn't have to mean grand gestures or hours of uninterrupted time. Sometimes, it starts with a conversation around the dinner table, a shared laugh, a family tradition, or simply putting our phones away for a few minutes to be fully present.
At The Bloom Room, our 8-week growth experience for young women, we focus on supporting high school girls as they navigate the challenges and opportunities of adolescence. But we also recognise that growth doesn't happen in isolation — it starts at home.
That is why we intentionally end our programme with a session that includes parents. We believe that when young women feel supported not only within themselves but also within their family relationships, meaningful and lasting growth becomes possible.
No matter the age of your children, it is never too early — or too late — to nurture connection within your family.
If you're not sure where to start, comment CONNECT below, and I'll send you a fun, practical activity that you can use to strengthen connection with your family and children of any age.
Because sometimes, the smallest moments of connection become the memories and relationships that shape a lifetime.
