A Prayer for Those Who Are Hurting

Heavenly Father,

In a world where many smile while carrying silent pain, give us hearts that see beyond appearances. Open our eyes to recognize the hidden tears, the unspoken cries, and the quiet battles that others are fighting.

Lord, make us instruments of Your love. Fill our words with kindness, our hands with compassion, and our hearts with wisdom. Help us never to judge too quickly or overlook someone who desperately needs encouragement.

Teach us to listen with patience, love without conditions, and stand beside those who feel forgotten. Let our presence bring peace, our prayers bring strength, and our actions reflect Your unfailing mercy.

Father, comfort every person reading this prayer who feels broken, overwhelmed, lonely, or discouraged. Remind them that they are deeply loved, never abandoned, and that You are close to the brokenhearted. Restore hope where there is despair, courage where there is fear, and joy where there has been sorrow.

Use us to shine Your light in dark places. May we notice those who are hurting before it's too late, and may we always be ready to extend grace, hope, and love, just as You continually do for us.

In Jesus' mighty name we pray.

Amen🙏

"I've been doing homework for decades!" 🤣🤣🤣

Right now, we're in full revision mode for end-of-term tests.

Friday, I went to pick up my girls from school.

Before I could even park properly...

Luumuno (shouting from a distance):
"Mummyyyyy! Everything we revised came in the tests!"🎉

Lushomo:
"Me too!"

Me? I nearly started a victory parade in the parking lot. 💃💃💃

"Heweeeee! Guess we're scoring 100s!"😂

Some parents looked at me like I had just won the lottery.

Meanwhile, I'm thinking🤔

"Please allow me to celebrate these tiny miracles. I've been studying since black and white TV!"🤣

The girls get into the car.

Then Professor Lubona clears her throat🙄

Lubona: "But those questions are always expected anyway."

😂😂😂

Madam, can you kindly let the rest of us enjoy our moment?

I told them, "We are not just celebrating that the questions came. We are celebrating that we actually remembered what we studied!"

In this house:
🙏 We pray for everything.
📚 We revise everything.
🎉 We celebrate everything.

Because sometimes the biggest victories are simply opening the exam paper and whispering, "Yeee, we've met before."🤣🤣🤣

Parents, tell me I'm not the only one celebrating these "small" wins like we've just defended a PhD!😂❤️

THE MAN WHO TAUGHT ME THAT SOME INFECTIONS DO NOT JUST STAY WHERE THEY STARTED

During my nursing training days, I met a man whose story has stayed with me for years.

At first, he seemed like anyone else. You could greet him, ask him questions, and have a normal conversation with him.

But suddenly, something would change.

In the middle of speaking, he would become confused. He would start talking about things that did not match the conversation. He seemed disconnected from reality and would experience episodes that left many people wondering what was happening to him.

Some people simply called him "mad."

But healthcare teaches us an important lesson:

A person is not their symptoms. There is always a story behind what we see.

As I learnt more about medicine, I discovered that some infections, when left untreated for a long time, can affect the brain and nervous system.

One of these infections is syphilis.

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection caused by a bacterium called Treponema pallidum. When detected early, it can be treated successfully. However, when it is ignored for years, it can progress and affect different parts of the body, including the nervous system.

This condition is called neurosyphilis.

It can affect the brain and nerves and may cause symptoms such as:

✅️Confusion or difficulty thinking clearly
✅️Memory problems
✅️Changes in personality or behaviour
✅️Problems with coordination and walking
✅️Vision or hearing problems
✅️Numbness or weakness
✅️In some cases, unusual perceptions or hallucinations

Syphilis can also present with other signs, including:

✅️A painless sore (chancre) on the ge****ls, mouth, or other areas
✅️Skin rashes, including on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet
✅️Swollen lymph nodes
✅️ Fever, tiredness, or body aches

One of the most dangerous things about syphilis is that the symptoms can disappear, making someone believe the infection has gone away, when it may still be present in the body.

The lesson is simple:

✔️Do not wait for an infection to become serious before seeking help.

✔️An STI diagnosis is not a reason for shame. It is a reason to take action.

Get tested.
Seek treatment early.
Encourage your partner to get tested too.

Behind every patient is a human being, not a label.

Let us create a society where people are not judged for seeking healthcare, but supported for making responsible choices.

Early treatment can protect your future health.

THE CITIZEN WITHIN 🇿🇲🕊️

Elections are moments that test not only our choices, but also our character.

They reveal how we handle differences, how we communicate, how we treat one another and how deeply we value the future of our nation.

Over the coming days, we will reflect on the role of every citizen in building a peaceful, informed and responsible society.

This is not about telling people what to think.

It is about encouraging us to think deeply.

Because a strong nation is not built by leaders alone, it is built by citizens who choose wisdom, respect and responsibility.

Let us reflect. Let us learn. Let us build.

TODAY'S DEVOTION

READ, PSALM 27:1-5
The LORD is my light and my salvation—so why should I be afraid? The LORD is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? Psalm 27:1, NLTA

Mighty Fortress

Where would we be without the mercy and protection and goodness of our God? How can we thank Him enough for all the times when we could have suffered harm and danger, for all the times when He has spared us from all kinds of fear, heartache, and pain? He knows there are times when what comes against us is too much for us, too powerful, too strong. On our own, the sickness, the loss, the setback would overwhelm us. That’s when He steps in. The Scripture says that when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of God raises up a barrier. When the enemy attacks, when trouble catches you off guard, the Lord is your fortress, protecting you from danger. He is your light and salvation. He’s looking out for you. You can live in peace. You can stay at rest. You don’t have to face this on your own.

The reason we get afraid, worried, and uptight is we’re trying to do what only God can do. Yes, we need to use wisdom and have common sense, but some things are out of our control. Why be afraid?

A Prayer for Today
“Heavenly Father, thank You that You are my light and my salvation. You are the fortress of my life, so I need not be afraid. When things come against me, help me to remember that You raise up a barrier to stop the flood. I want to experience Your power and know Your greatness. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

🍠 Orange-Fleshed Sweet Potato: A Small Crop with a Big Impact! 🌱💛

One of the simplest ways to improve family nutrition is by including Orange-Fleshed Sweet Potato (OFSP) in our diets. Rich in vitamin A, fibre and other essential nutrients, it supports healthy vision, strengthens immunity, and promotes the healthy growth and development of children.

What I love most about OFSP is that it's not just nutritious, it's also a climate-smart crop. It matures quickly, tolerates dry conditions better than many staple crops, and both the roots and leaves can be enjoyed as food. The roots can be boiled, roasted, baked, or processed into flour, while the leaves make a delicious and nutritious vegetable.

As climate change continues to affect food production, embracing resilient crops like OFSP can help improve food security and ensure families have access to healthy meals throughout the year.

Sometimes the most powerful solutions are growing right in our gardens. 🌍💚

Have you tried Orange-Fleshed Sweet Potato? How do you enjoy it, boiled, roasted, or in another recipe? Share in the comments! 👇

TODAY'S DEVOTION

READ, 1 SAMUEL 17:17-32
But when David’s oldest brother, Eliab, heard David talking to the men, he was angry. “What are you doing around here anyway?” he demanded. “What about those few sheep you’re supposed to be taking care of? I know about your pride and deceit. You just want to see the battle!”
1 Samuel 17:28, NLT

Keep Your Boundary Up

When David’s oldest brother overheard him asking some soldiers about the reward for killing the giant Goliath, he belittled David, trying to manipulate him into feeling small and insignificant. David could have let his brother control him and tried to play up to him, thinking, “I have to get Eliab to accept me. He’s family. What do I have to do to win his approval?” But David had a boundary up. His attitude was: “I don’t need his approval to feel good about who I am. I’m going to run my race and focus on my goals. If he doesn’t like it, that’s too bad.”

When someone’s critical of us, it’s tempting to try to prove who we are, to convince them to like us. If you fall into that trap, you’ll end up controlled and manipulated by what they want. You have to do as David and be at peace with who’s not at peace with you. Be okay with who doesn’t accept you. You don’t need them for your destiny. Take the high road. Be loving. Be kind. But keep your boundary up.

A Prayer for Today
“Heavenly Father, thank You that You are not limited to seeing me as other people see me. Thank You that You see my heart, and You have qualified me to do what You want me to do. I declare that I will not allow how others treat me or what they say to determine my value and self-worth. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Doc😢

I never imagined I would be writing these words today.

As I sit here with tears filling my eyes, I realise how difficult it is to say goodbye to someone who played such a significant role in my life and career.

When I worked in Southern Province as Provincial Nutrition Support Coordinator, God placed you in my path for a reason. You became more than a supervisor or colleague, you became my mentor, my guide, and one of my biggest sources of professional inspiration.

You were a man of integrity who never compromised your principles. You called a spade a spade, not to hurt people, but because you believed in honesty, accountability and excellence. You challenged me to think differently, to work harder and to believe that ideas are only as good as the action that follows them.

Whenever I ran to you with an idea, you never dismissed it. You listened. You asked the hard questions. You refined it. Then you encouraged me to make it happen. Those conversations shaped the professional I am today.

You were one of the few people I trusted enough to list as a referee on my CV because I knew you understood my work, believed in my abilities and would speak the truth about who I am.

Today, my heart aches. I thank God for the privilege of knowing you, learning from you and being mentored by you. I will forever cherish your wisdom, your guidance, your laughter and the example you set.

Thank you, Dr Namani Moonze, for believing in me.

Thank you for leaving footprints that can never be erased.

Rest peacefully, my mentor. Your race is finished, but your legacy will continue to live in the lives of those you taught, encouraged and inspired.
