๐ฟ MORNING DEVOTION | A HEART OF THANKSGIVING
TOPIC: GIVE THANKS TO ELOHIM IN EVERY SEASON
Good morning, beloved! ๐
As we welcome another beautiful morning, let us pause for a moment and give thanks to Elohim, the Most High God.
Before we ask Him for anything today, let us first remember what He has already done. The breath in our lungs, the gift of life, the strength to rise, the people we love, and even the challenges that are teaching us patience and dependence on Him are reasons to approach Him with grateful hearts.
๐ SCRIPTURE READING: 1 THESSALONIANS 5:16โ18 (KJV)
โRejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.โ
๐ฟ WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO GIVE THANKS IN EVERYTHING?
Giving thanks in everything does not mean that every situation we face is good. It means that even when life is difficult, we can still recognise the goodness, faithfulness, and sovereignty of our God.
Sometimes, we thank Elohim because He has answered our prayers. Other times, we thank Him while we are still waiting for the answer.
Sometimes, we praise Him because the door has opened. Other times, we trust Him when a door closes, knowing that our understanding is limited but His wisdom is perfect.
Thanksgiving shifts our attention from what we lack to the One who sustains us.
๐ PSALM 100:4 (KJV)
โEnter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.โ
Notice that thanksgiving is an invitation into God's presence. We must not allow our requests to become louder than our gratitude.
Beloved, when was the last time you thanked Elohim simply because He is God? Not because you received a breakthrough, not because you got the job, not because the money came, but simply because He is worthy of your praise?
๐ฟ THREE LESSONS TO CARRY INTO TODAY
1. Remember His goodness.
๐ Psalm 103:2 โ โBless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.โ
Do not allow today's worries to erase yesterday's testimonies. Take time to remember the times God strengthened you, comforted you, provided for you, and helped you endure what you thought you could not overcome.
2. Give thanks before you see the outcome.
๐ Philippians 4:6 (KJV) teaches us to make our requests known to God โwith thanksgiving.โ
Prayer and thanksgiving belong together. We can bring our needs before Elohim while remaining grateful for His faithfulness. We do not have to know how everything will work out before we choose to trust Him.
3. Let your gratitude become a lifestyle.
๐ Colossians 3:17 reminds us to do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God.
Thanksgiving is more than words spoken in the morning. It is reflected in how we treat people, how we use what we have, how we respond to difficult situations, and how we acknowledge God in our daily lives.
๐ฟ A MOMENT OF REFLECTION
Before you begin your activities today, ask yourself:
- What has Elohim done for me that I have not properly thanked Him for?
- Have I been so focused on what I am waiting for that I have forgotten what I already have?
- How can I demonstrate gratitude to God and kindness to someone today?
Remember, beloved: A grateful heart does not deny life's difficulties; it recognises that God is still worthy of praise in the middle of them.
๐ LET US PRAY
Our Heavenly Father, Elohim, the Giver of life and the Sustainer of our souls, we come before You this morning with humble and grateful hearts.
Thank You for the gift of life, for Your mercy, for Your patience with us, and for the strength You provide each day. Forgive us for the moments when we have focused so much on our needs that we have forgotten to appreciate Your goodness.
Teach us to be thankful in every season. When we rejoice, remind us to give You the glory. When we face challenges, strengthen our faith. When we are waiting, grant us patience. When we have little, teach us contentment; and when we have much, keep our hearts humble.
May our words, thoughts, and actions bring honour to You today. Help us to become people whose lives reflect gratitude, love, humility, and obedience to Your Word.
In Jesus Christ's name, Amen.
๐ฟ TODAY'S DECLARATION
Today, I choose gratitude over grumbling, faith over fear, and praise over despair. I will remember the goodness of Elohim, trust Him in every season, and give Him the glory in all that I do. My circumstances will not determine whether God is worthy of my thanksgiving. He is worthy, today and always. Amen.
