ONE STOP CENTRE TRAINING FINALISED

Ministry of Health has finalised the training of One Stop Centres staff in mental health and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). 25 One Stop Centre Coordinators drawn from 5 Provinces namely Eastern, Lusaka, Central, Western and Northen we're hosted in Kabwe for 5 days intensive training to enhance knowledge and skills in mental health integration, management, referral and linkage to care. This brings a total so far trained from the One stop centres to 50.

The Ministry of Health has Prioritised mental health as a centre of holistic provision of health care services as it cuts across all sectors and disciplines.

Mental Health Officer at the Ministry of health Mr Gabriel Lungu who is also the training facilitator, narrates that the target is to see that mental health is taken aboard in all disciplines namely, Reproductive, Adolescents, Maternal and Child health, Cancer, HIV, Surgery and general medical services as well as in other line Ministries. He further adds that it's high time we realised and understood that 'There is No Health without Mental Health' and mental health should find its space in all health disciplines.

All are done to strengthen mental health care systems and comprehensive health care delivery. The program is being supported by the World Bank HEPRR MPA project.

The Team of mental health trainers from Ministry of Health HQ camped in Livingstone at Livingstone Lodge as we hosted 30 Primary Health care providers from the 15 districts of Southern Provinces. The Participants were undergoing Mental Health trainings for Emergency Preparedness and response. The Project is being supported by World Bank Multiphase Approach project aimed at creating a resilient health care system.

The participants were composed of Registered Nurses, Clinical Officers General, Clinical officers Psychiatry, Registered Mental health nurses, Psychosocial Counsellors and Midwives.

objective of the training is to capacity build the healthcare providers with knowledge and skills in mental screening and detection,case management, referral and follow up.

Also to provide mental health care and support to the victims, at risk individuals, families and population during and after emergencies. The team was taken through on how to strengthen mental integration in Primary Health Care and also practice Liason Psychiatry.

All being done to strengthen and improve mental health service delivery and prioritising it for holistic and comprehensive health care to the general public.
