Prioritising Mental Health in the Workplace

Our Director, Dr Rozious Siatwambo, opened the session by highlighting the importance of taking care of ourselves both mentally and physically. He emphasised that when we are mentally and physically well, we are more productive, resilient, and better equipped to perform our responsibilities. He also spoke on the importance of understanding different personalities in the workplace to foster healthier relationships and stronger teamwork.
Throughout the workshop, participants explored key topics including:
✨ Emotional Intelligence and why it matters
✨ Improved decision-making
✨ Reducing occupational stress
✨ Enhancing personal well-being
✨ The importance of intentionally caring for our mental health by making time for activities that bring us joy and balance.
A representative of the examination council of Zambia expressed appreciation to the Great North Road Rehabilitation Centre team, noting that the workshop would help strengthen teamwork and create a healthier work environment. He encouraged staff members to support one another, handle workplace grievances constructively, and remember that because we spend a significant part of our lives at work, it is essential to cultivate a positive and supportive workplace culture.
