HAPPY WORLD PHYSIOTHERAPY DAY!
This year’s World Physiotherapy Day highlights the important role of physiotherapy and physical activity in preventing, managing and rehabilitating cardiovascular disease (CVD) and stroke.
Cardiovascular Disease
CVD remains the leading cause of death globally, claiming more than 20.5 million lives every year. Physiotherapists help reduce this burden by promoting physical activity, identifying people at risk, designing safe and personalised exercise programmes, encouraging early action and supporting people living with heart disease to stay active and reduce the risk of further complications.
Stroke
About 1 in 4 people will experience a stroke in their lifetime, yet almost all strokes can be prevented. Regular physical activity can significantly reduce the risk of stroke, with 30 minutes of exercise, five days a week, reducing the risk by about 25%.
For those recovering from stroke, physiotherapy is vital in improving mobility, balance, physical function and quality of life, while promoting independence and helping individuals return to everyday activities.
Today, we celebrate our Physiotherapists for their dedication to helping people move better, live healthier and regain their independence.
Move more. Live healthier. Prevent disease. Recover stronger.
