1- Healing looks good on Emeldah! She returned for her follow-up appointment with a beautiful smile, and we're so happy to see that she's recovering well.

Behind every successful surgery is a team committed to safety at every step. One of the most important parts of that process is ensuring that every surgical instrument used in the operating theatre is properly cleaned and sterilised.
Sterilisation helps prevent infections and protects every child who comes through our doors for life-changing surgery. From the moment instruments leave the theatre until they are prepared for the next procedure, careful attention is given to every detail.
It may happen behind the scenes, but this vital work plays a big role in helping our patients heal safely. Every clean instrument is another step toward giving a child a healthier future.

At CURE Zambia, we believe in collaborations that help us serve our patients in the best way possible. By working together, sharing knowledge, and joining forces with experts from around the world. That’s exactly what happened when our Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) department performed Zambia’s first-ever Bone Anchored Hearing Implant (BAHI) surgery!
This milestone was only possible through the incredible partnership between Dr. Rebecca Chiffer, a Neurotology surgeon from Thomas Jefferson University, and our very own in-house ENT surgeon, Dr. Haben Brihanne. They were joined by Audiologists Dr. Sarah Lively and Dr. Karla Belcastro, whose expertise in hearing care further strengthened this procedure.
BAHI surgery is a game-changer for individuals with hearing loss who can’t benefit from traditional hearing aids. By placing a tiny titanium implant in the skull behind the ear, it allows a sound processor to connect externally restoring the gift of sound!
We are deeply grateful to God for partnerships that allow us to learn, grow, and enhance the care we provide to the children we serve. Together, we can do so much more!

Here are some of our favourite moments from the week.
1- We were privileged to host the Fulmer and Brigham families, compassionate friends and partners of CURE International. Their visit brought joy and encouragement to coworkers, caregivers, patients, and their families. Thank you for sharing your time, kindness, and hearts with us.
2- Matthews shyly smiles for the camera despite the pain in his arm from surgery. His courage and bright spirit are truly inspiring. What a brave little boy.
3- Ministry of Health (MOH) Community-Based Volunteers successfully attended a training at CURE Zambia to learn more about the newborn screening and how they can help implement the project.
