A MILESTONE DAY FOR ZAMBIAN OPHTHALMOLOGY
At the just-ended University of Zambia graduation ceremony, the Zambia Ophthalmological Society celebrates THREE of our colleagues who have graduated as fully qualified Ophthalmologists β a proud and significant day for eye care in our country and the region.
Please join us in congratulating:
β¨ Dr. Angela Chibwe β also Lieutenant Colonel with the Zambia National Service. A remarkable journey of service in both medicine and the uniform.
β¨ Dr. Manyara β based at Zimba Mission Hospital, where she will now strengthen ophthalmic services in the Southern Province and surrounding catchment.
β¨ Dr. Emmanuel Yungu β based in Eastern DRC, extending the reach of regional ophthalmology training across the border and into a community that desperately needs more eye-care specialists.
Each of these colleagues adds to the steadily growing community of ophthalmologists serving Zambia and the wider region. Every new specialist trained is another set of skilled hands fighting avoidable blindness, restoring sight, and bringing eye care closer to communities that have waited far too long for it.
To every supervisor, mentor, family member, colleague, training institution, and partner organisation that made this journey possible β thank you. Behind every new ophthalmologist stands a community of people who quietly carried part of the load. Today we honour you too. π
To Dr. Chibwe, Dr. Manyara, and Dr. Yungu β the Society salutes you. π The work ahead is significant, the need is great, and we have no doubt you are ready.
Please share this post to celebrate our newest colleagues with us. π
