A major highlight of the event was an inspiring session by Dr. N.D. Jonker, who delivered a deeply insightful presentation on Breast Cancer Screening, Treatment and the Role of Radiology.

As a proud Breast Cancer Survivor herself, Dr. N.D Jonker she reiterated that, “early detection saves lives.” Her passionate call to action reminded us all of the importance of being proactive about our health through regular check-ups, routine screening and the role of Radiology.

Not all medical implants are the same when it comes to MRI.

While many modern implants are MRI-compatible, some require specific scanning conditions, and others may not be safe in an MRI environment.

If you've ever had surgery or have an implanted medical device—such as a pacemaker, aneurysm clip, cochlear implant, joint replacement, or any other implant—it's essential to tell your MRI team before your appointment.

Sharing your complete medical history allows our radiographers to assess your safety, determine whether an MRI is appropriate, and make any necessary adjustments to ensure your examination is performed safely.

An MRI uses one of the most powerful magnetic fields in medicine, which is why every examination begins with a thorough safety screening.

Our radiographers will ask about:
• Previous surgeries
• Pacemakers or other implanted medical devices
• Metal fragments or injuries
• Pregnancy and other relevant medical history

These questions are not just part of the process—they are essential to ensuring your MRI is performed safely and accurately.
This process will Take a few extra minutes before your scan which helps prevent potential risks and allows our team to provide the highest standard of care.
