OPD Engagement – Sensitization and Dialogue workshop on the implementation of the High Level Political Compact (HLPC) Workshop
16 June 2026 | Holiday Inn, Harare
The Federation of Organisations of Disabled People in Zimbabwe (FODPZ), with support from UNDP, and the Ministry of Public Service,Labor and Social, Department of Disability Affairs, successfully convened Organisations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) from FODPZ and NASCOH for a powerful engagement on the High-Level Political Compact (HLPC).
The HLPC is a multi-sectoral commitment to eliminate Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and harmful practices by 2030, bringing together Government Ministries, UN agencies, development partners, traditional and religious leaders, NANGO, the private sector, and independent commissions such as the Zimbabwe Gender Commission.
đź’ˇ During the workshop, participants:
• Explored the Sustaining the Gains Programme and unpacked HLPC commitments, architecture, and implementation status.
• Shared achievements and innovations.
• Confronted honest challenges in addressing GBV and harmful practices.
• Identified disability-inclusive priorities, entry points, and recommendations.
From structured OPD progress reports to group work and plenary validation, the engagement reaffirmed a powerful truth: gender equality cannot be achieved without disability inclusion.
We thank all participants for their commitment to building a Zimbabwe where dignity, justice, and inclusion are realities not aspirations. OPDs demonstrated that advocacy, accountability, and action are the way forward.
