We pause to remember and honor the courageous men and women whose sacrifices, resilience, and unwavering commitment laid the foundation for the Zimbabwe we know today.

Heroes’ Day is a time to reflect on the values of courage, unity, patriotism, and selflessness. Their legacy continues to inspire us to serve our communities with compassion, integrity, and dedication.

We pay tribute to our national heroes and celebrate the enduring spirit that unites us as a nation. May we all continue to work together towards a healthier, stronger, and more prosperous Zimbabwe.

“Their courage shaped our nation. Their legacy inspires our future.”

Wishing all Zimbabweans a peaceful and reflective Heroes’ Day.

Breast milk is often referred to as a baby’s “first food” because it contains everything an infant needs for healthy growth during the first six months of life. It provides the right balance of proteins, healthy fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, and water in forms that are easy for babies to digest.

In addition to nutrition, breast milk contains antibodies and living immune cells that help protect babies against common childhood illnesses such as diarrheal diseases, ear infections, pneumonia, and respiratory infections.

As babies grow, breast milk continues to adapt to meet their changing nutritional and developmental needs.

August is dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of breastfeeding, supporting mothers throughout their breastfeeding journey, and promoting healthier outcomes for both mothers and babies.

Breastfeeding is one of the most effective ways to ensure a child receives optimal nutrition during the first months of life. It provides complete nourishment, strengthens the immune system, and supports healthy physical and cognitive development.

By educating families and creating supportive communities, we help give every child the healthiest possible start in life.

Mental Health Starts with Compassion

One of the most powerful ways to support mental health is through compassion. We may not always know what someone is going through, but kindness, patience, and understanding can make a lasting impact.

Let’s commit to listening without judgment, supporting those in need, and fostering a culture of empathy within our communities.

Together, we can create a world where seeking mental health support is encouraged, respected, and accessible to all.

Compassion can be the first step toward healing.

Mental Health Equity Matters

Mental healthcare should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their background, circumstances, or location.

National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month highlights the importance of ensuring that all communities have access to information, resources, and support services that promote mental wellbeing.

When barriers to mental healthcare are reduced, more people can seek help early, receive appropriate support, and improve their quality of life.

Together, we can advocate for a future where mental health support is available, inclusive, and accessible to all.

Looking After Your Heart in Cold Weather

Cold temperatures can cause blood vessels to narrow, making the heart work harder to circulate blood throughout the body.

Individuals with high blood pressure, heart disease, or other cardiovascular conditions should take extra precautions during winter by staying warm, taking prescribed medication, and attending regular medical check-ups.

A healthy heart deserves year-round care.

During the colder months, many people drink less water because they don’t feel as thirsty. However, staying hydrated remains just as important in winter as it is during summer.

Proper hydration supports digestion, circulation, brain function, and helps your body fight infections. Dehydration can lead to headaches, fatigue, dizziness, and reduced concentration.

This winter, make a conscious effort to drink enough water throughout the day, even when temperatures drop.

Your body needs hydration in every season.

Every individual deserves access to quality healthcare, education, and the resources needed to live a healthy life.

Today reminds us of the importance of reproductive health, family planning, maternal care, and access to healthcare services for all. Strong communities are built when individuals and families are empowered to make informed decisions about their health and future.
