🧠 Next stop for the Vienna Rhinology & Skull Base Lab – Skull Base Surgery Meeting | Vienna, 16–17 October 2026

🇬🇧 Delighted to be part of this meeting organized by our esteemed neurosurgical colleagues in Vienna!

I will be speaking about the endoscopic management of juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibromas, presenting the work I perform together with Prof. David Liu.

👃 I will also share two recent challenging cases with extensive skull base erosion, both successfully managed through a purely endoscopic endonasal approach – without any external incision.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. David Liu and will be representing our work at the American Rhinologic Society meeting 🇺🇸 – stay tuned for the updates!

🇦🇹 Ich freue mich sehr, bei diesem von unseren geschätzten neurochirurgischen Kollegen in Wien organisierten Kongress dabei zu sein!

In meinem Vortrag werde ich über die endoskopische Behandlung juveniler Nasenrachenfibrome sprechen und unsere gemeinsame Arbeit mit Prof. David Liu vorstellen.

👃 Dabei präsentiere ich auch zwei aktuelle, besonders ausgedehnte Fälle mit Schädelbasiserosion, die wir vollständig endoskopisch-endonasal und ohne äußeren Schnitt operieren konnten.

Währenddessen werden David Liu und Alexander Lein unsere gemeinsame Arbeit beim Kongress der American Rhinologic Society 🇺🇸 präsentieren – weitere Einblicke von beiden Kongressen folgen!

Govorit ću o endoskopskom liječenju juvenilnih nazofaringealnih angiofibroma i predstaviti rad koji zajedno obavljamo prof. David Liu i ja.

👃 Predstavit ću i dva nedavna, posebno zahtjevna slučaja s opsežnom erozijom baze lobanje, koje smo uspješno operisali isključivo endoskopskim endonazalnim pristupom – bez vanjskog reza.

🇬🇧 Male Rhinoplasty | On-table Results

Closed rhinoplasty without external incisions, combining dorsal, ligament and tip preservation with ultrasonic Piezo surgery in Wiener Privatklinik

Despite preserving most of the native structures, we were able to lower the nasal dorsum while slightly lifting and refining the tip – achieving a natural, masculine nasal profile.

The goal: preserve anatomy, maintain function and achieve stable long-term results.

🇦🇹 Männliche Rhinoplastik | Intraoperatives Ergebnis

Geschlossene Rhinoplastik ohne äußere Schnitte, mit Erhalt des Nasenrückens, der Bänder und der Nasenspitzenstrukturen sowie ultraschallgestützter Piezo-Chirurgie.

Trotz weitgehendem Strukturerhalt konnten der Nasenrücken abgesenkt sowie die Nasenspitze leicht angehoben und verfeinert werden – für ein natürliches, maskulines Nasenprofil.

Ziel ist der maximale Erhalt der Anatomie für langfristig stabile Ergebnisse.

Zatvorena rinoplastika bez vanjskih rezova, uz očuvanje hrpta nosa, ligamenata i struktura vrha nosa te korištenje ultrazvučne Piezo tehnologije.

Uz očuvanje većine prirodnih struktura, hrbat nosa je spušten, a vrh blago podignut i oblikovan kako bi se postigao prirodan, muževan profil.

Cilj je maksimalno očuvanje anatomije za dugoročno stabilne rezultate.

🇬🇧 Powered sinus surgery at ⚙️👃

The microdebrider/shaver is an essential tool in modern endoscopic sinus surgery, allowing precise and controlled tissue removal.

This case had particularly complex anatomy: a large Onodi cell with the optic nerve running without bony coverage, as well as a complex frontal recess with a suprabullar frontal cell that was completely opened.

Precision, visualization and detailed knowledge of anatomy are key. 🔬

Der Microdebrider/Shaver ist ein essenzielles Instrument der modernen endoskopischen Nasennebenhöhlenchirurgie und ermöglicht eine präzise und kontrollierte Gewebeentfernung.

In diesem Fall zeigte sich eine besonders komplexe Anatomie: eine große Onodi-Zelle mit frei, ohne knöcherne Bedeckung verlaufendem Sehnerv sowie eine komplexe Stirnhöhlenanatomie mit suprabullärer Frontalzelle, die vollständig eröffnet wurde.

Präzision, Visualisierung und genaue Anatomiekenntnis sind entscheidend. 🔬

Microdebrider/shaver je važan dio moderne endoskopske hirurgije sinusa i omogućava precizno i kontrolisano uklanjanje tkiva.

U ovom slučaju anatomija je bila posebno kompleksna: velika Onodi ćelija sa optičkim živcem bez koštanog pokrova, kao i kompleksna frontalna anatomija sa suprabulbarnom frontalnom ćelijom koja je u potpunosti otvorena.

Preciznost, dobra vizualizacija i poznavanje anatomije su ključni. 🔬

🇬🇧 Dorsal preservation rhinoplasty – on-table result 👃✨

Dorsal preservation piezo rhinoplasty using a high-strip and push-down technique. The natural dorsal lines were preserved while reducing the hump, and the nasal tip was carefully refined, repositioned and supported to achieve a balanced and natural profile.

The goal: preserve as much of the native anatomy as possible while making precise changes to shape and proportions.

Of course, on-table results are only an immediate snapshot. Swelling, healing and tissue remodeling continue over the following months, so the final long-term result may differ.

🇦🇹 Dorsal Preservation Rhinoplastik – On-Table-Ergebnis 👃

Dorsal Preservation Piezo-Rhinoplastik mittels High-Strip und Push-Down-Technik. Die natürlichen Linien des Nasenrückens wurden erhalten und der Höcker reduziert. Die Nasenspitze wurde zusätzlich verfeinert, neu positioniert und stabilisiert, um ein harmonisches und natürliches Profil zu erzielen.

Das Ziel: möglichst viel der natürlichen Anatomie zu erhalten und Form und Proportionen gezielt zu verbessern. ✨

Wichtig: Das Ergebnis direkt am OP-Tisch ist nur eine Momentaufnahme. Schwellung, Heilung und Gewebeumbau verändern das Erscheinungsbild in den folgenden Monaten, weshalb das endgültige Langzeitergebnis davon abweichen kann.

Dorsal preservation piezo rinoplastika uz high-strip i push-down tehniku. Prirodne linije dorzuma su očuvane uz redukciju grbe, dok je vrh nosa dodatno definisan, repozicioniran i stabilizovan kako bi se postigao skladan i prirodan profil.

Cilj je sačuvati što više prirodne anatomije nosa, uz preciznu korekciju oblika i proporcija. ✨

Važno: rezultat neposredno nakon operacije predstavlja samo trenutni izgled. Otok, zarastanje i remodeliranje tkiva nastavljaju se narednih mjeseci, pa konačni dugoročni rezultat može izgledati drugačije.

Organized by the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at the Medical University of Vienna (Chair: Prof. Christoph Arnoldner), the symposium took place at Kelsen in the Austrian Parliament.

A special thank you to our international faculty Milos Kovacevic, Philipp Mayr and Cem Bulut, as well as to our esteemed colleagues from Vienna and guests from abroad — from the UK to Türkiye — for joining us.

Great lectures, inspiring discussions and a fantastic exchange of ideas.
