๐๏ธ NEW PODCAST โ FIGHT, FLIGHT, FREEZE & FAWN
โYou handled it so well.โ
Did I?
Or did I just get really good at looking like I was okay?
There have been times where, from the outside, I looked strong.
I kept working.
I kept training.
I kept showing up.
I kept helping everyone else.
I kept smiling.
But behind closed doors, I lost my spark.
I shattered alone.
And then I got up and carried on because that was what I knew how to do.
Something I've been learning about myself is that being โstrongโ isn't always the same as actually processing what you're feeling.
Sometimes staying busy is flight.
Sometimes needing control is fight.
Sometimes completely shutting down is freeze.
And sometimes making sure everyone else is okay while ignoring yourself is fawn.
And the crazy part?
We can become so used to these behaviours that we don't even realise we're doing them.
We just think:
โThat's who I am.โ
I'm independent.
I'm a people pleaser.
I don't like sitting still.
I need to be in control.
I don't like confrontation.
I just get on with things.
But sometimes there's more underneath it.
This week's episode of Real Talk Fitness goes deeper into the four stress responses โ Fight, Flight, Freeze & Fawn โ and how they can show up in everyday life, relationships, work, training and our behaviours.
I'm learning that strength isn't always about how much you can carry without anyone noticing.
Sometimes strength is actually being willing to stop and ask:
โWhy do I react this way?โ
โWhat am I trying to protect myself from?โ
Andโฆ
โDoes this response still serve the person I am today?โ
