🦠 Do you know what to do with your unused antimicrobials such as antibiotics, antivirals, and antifungals?

Unused antimicrobials should be returned to your local pharmacy for safe and free disposal.

Disposing of unused antimicrobials inappropriately, such as in the bin or down the sink or toilet, can harm the environment and pollute waterways, contributing to antimicrobial resistance.

To help reduce the spread of antimicrobial resistance, it’s also important to:
▪ Only use antimicrobials when you need them
▪ Never use old antimicrobials for a new infection
▪ Never share your antimicrobials
▪ Use antimicrobials as prescribed
▪ Dispose of unused antimicrobials correctly by returning to a pharmacy
