This National Reconciliation Week, the 2026 theme All In reminds us that reconciliation is not a spectator sport. It requires all of us to step forward, listen, learn, and take meaningful action together.

Reconciliation is about building respectful relationships, acknowledging the histories and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and creating a future grounded in understanding, inclusion and unity. Every conversation, every act of respect, and every effort to learn helps move us closer toward lasting change.

This week is an opportunity for all Australians to reflect on the role we each play in reconciliation and how we can continue to be All In, not just during National Reconciliation Week, but every day.

Specifically for those in Adelaide, the Adelaide Central Markets are hosting "On Country at the Market" - with live music, cooking classes and story telling features from local artists. More information about the On Country at the Market here: https://www.reconciliation.org.au/event/on-country-at-the-market/ & more information and events from Reconciliation Australia Australia wide https://www.reconciliation.org.au/calendar/list/

May is recognised as Cri du Chat Awareness Month, helping raise visibility and understanding of Cri du Chat syndrome; a rare genetic condition also known as 5P Syndrome or Five P Minus.

Throughout the month, we acknowledge the individuals, families and carers within the Cri du Chat community by promoting awareness, sharing information and encouraging support and inclusion. To show our support this May, we wear colourful stripey socks as a symbol of solidarity and recognition and to spark the conversation about this rare condition.

Stripe up this May, for Cri du Chat!

Did you know the Government offers a Disability Information Helpline, available to support people with disability, their families, carers and support workers? It provides free, confidential, and reliable information, along with referrals and accessible resources.

The Government also provides a National Disability Advocacy Program (NDAP) which promotes and protects the rights of people with disability. The program provides support in situations where people with disability feel unable to act, speak or write about a difficult situation on their own, or do not have the support required to resolve an issue.

Find out more about the hotline through https://www.health.gov.au/topics/disability-and-carers/funding/help-and-support & more about the NDAP program through https://www.health.gov.au/our-work/ndap

It's about People with Disabilities AND Plan Managers. More people are choosing to go with their plans being plan managed and yet the Government want to reduce the amount of choices you have?

We need to put a stop to this!

Early April, the NDIA have provided an update with more information on their "New Way of Planning". They've provided the below video update, and have created their New Way of Planning page: https://www.ndis.gov.au/new-way-of-planning.

As part of the NDIS Engage program, the NDIS is working with participants and representatives to help test and understand the new planning process. You can register your interest below, or reach out to the NDIS Engagement team at [email protected] if you have questions on how you can help.

This will enter the NDIS into a new era, hopefully improving the lives of NDIS participants. We'll be keeping our eyes and ears open for more updates, and you should too. Register for the updates and subscribe to their NDIS Newsletter to be the first to hear about it.

Happy World Down Syndrome Day!

Today, March 21st, 2026, we celebrate by raising awareness, challenging misconceptions, and promoting the full participation of people with Down syndrome in society.

This year's them is . Everyone feels lonely sometimes. But for many people with Down Syndrome and other intellectual disabilities, loneliness is a more common and painful experience.

How do we resolve this lonely feeling? The answer is real inclusion!
It’s about having good friendships and relationships. It’s the feeling of being valued and knowing you belong.

This is a problem we can solve, and ‘Together Against Loneliness’ is the call to action.

We want to talk about the problem of loneliness and how we help people feel connected and that they belong.

Check out www.worlddownsyndromeday.org for more information and ways you can help!
