Did you know scoliosis is more common in females and often develops around 10–12 years of age?
This can be the perfect time to have your daughter checked, particularly during a growth spurt.
Keep an eye out for:
• Uneven shoulders or hips
• One shoulder blade sitting higher
• Clothes hanging unevenly
• A visible spinal curve
There are two main types of spinal curves:
• Functional: A flexible curve that may change with movement or position.
• Structural: A more fixed curve involving changes to the spine, with genetic factors sometimes playing a role.
A chiropractor can assess spinal movement and posture, support comfort, mobility and muscle balance, and refer you to a GP or spinal specialist if needed.
Early assessment can help provide the right support during growth.
