On Monday 27 July at 2:00pm (AEST), a test of Australia's new emergency warning system, AusAlert, will be sent to compatible mobile devices across the country.

Play a loud siren-like sound for approximately 10 seconds

Display a message clearly identifying the alert as a test

AusAlert will help emergency services deliver important warnings during disasters such as cyclones, floods, bushfires and other emergencies. The system is scheduled to launch nationally in October 2026.
If you have a device that needs to remain silent for safety reasons, you can switch it off or place it in aeroplane mode before the test and leave it that way for at least one hour.
