For a long time, the standard message around osteoporosis was: slow it down, manage the risk, be careful.

Research by and Dr. Belinda Beck which was covered in the recent story, challenges that.

Belinda’s work found that bone tissue remains responsive to loading throughout life. Under the right conditions and with appropriate supervision, some participants in her studies saw bone density increase by up to 9% over 8 months. The scan results surprising even Belinda herself.

Bone can be grown. That changes the conversation.

At our One Life gym in Alfredton, we run the ONERO® programme, the exercise approach Belinda developed from this research.

Many women cycle or walk regularly and consider themselves fit and active.

For some of these women, being diagnosed with osteoporosis can come as a real shock!

A similar story was featured in a report on and Dr. Belinda Beck’s research.

This is something we have seen often in our clinic.

Walking, cycling, swimming and yoga are so valuable. They support your heart, your balance and your mental health. But they don’t put enough mechanical load through your skeleton to stimulate bone growth.

Bone needs to be challenged to adapt. That requires progressive, supervised, targeted exercise, not just more movement.

If you exercise regularly and assumed that was covering your bone health too, it’s worth knowing this.

Not all exercise builds strong bones.

If you walk, swim, cycle or do yoga, that’s great for your general health.

But if you have osteoporosis or low bone density, those activities are not enough on their own to stop bone loss. Most people are never told that.

We’re sharing what the research actually says, including a recent story on and Dr. Belinda Beck’s work that we think every woman over 50 should watch.

At One Life Health Group we are registered ONERO® providers, a programme developed from the research.

More info to come. Follow along.

Great to see a full room last night for our Osteoporosis & ONERO™ Patient Information Evening.

A huge THANK YOU to from North Medical and dietitian Emily Ainslie for presenting alongside our physiotherapist Nathan Skewes.

There’s a lot of confusion around bone health, what helps, what doesn’t, and what’s actually safe.

We covered:

🦴 What actually improves bone density

🦴 What current evidence supports

🦴 How to approach exercise, nutrition and management with confidence.

Thanks to everyone who showed up and asked questions!

Be on the look out for our next ONERO™ info session, specifically for health professionals. You can register your interest through the link in our bio.

Hi everyone, Leah here.

Lots of you have been passing on lovely messages and asking after me, thank you so much! It is so nice to feel so cared for.

To update you all, on February 20th I had major abdominal surgery to address a number of women’s health issues. I am recovering very well and am on track to return to work for limited shifts as of next week, Monday March 23rd.

This may be subject to change at short notice, pending how I am feeling, and I apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause. At this stage I anticipate a return to normal capacity after Easter.

Thank you all for being so kind and patient.

Leah ❤️
