What a beautiful art session we had today!
There was lots of chatting, laughter, and great conversations while we started preparing our Christmas decorations for our big Christmas Party in December. Crazy, isn't it? But we need to be organised!
Today we began painting Christmas jars and bottles using acrylic paint. The next step will be adding ribbons, twine, burlap, and other decorations to make them extra special. We also talked about using branches and leaves to create beautiful natural displays.
Our next project will be to find some native plants, seed pods, and natural treasures to decorate the runner table. As we are very conscious about protecting nature, we never pick from living trees or plants. Instead, we only collect what has already fallen to the ground, as Mother Earth needs to be respected and protected.
Some participants preferred to work on their own creative projects today, which is absolutely fine. This is their session, and we encourage everyone to explore their own interests and creativity.

During our Monday cooking class, we learned the technique to make butter chicken, served with yogurt, cucumber, and red onion on the side, along with naan bread. The best result comes from allowing the butter chicken sauce to rest and develop over a few hours, but even within one hour we achieved a fresh and delicious flavour.

In the afternoon, we will also have the privilege of meeting one of the participant’s dads, who will share all the secrets of making mee goreng. 🫕

Fundraising is not always easy, and we are so proud that at Aaquila Care we take the time to support participants’ dreams, goals, and passions in life. This is what we are here for ❤️

Movie Night is now on the way, and we are excited to invite you to a special screening of Mr Bean’s Holiday on Friday 3rd of July- Aaquila Care center from 5pm to 7pm. Snacks will be available, and bookings are mandatory as tickets must be purchased online. You will also be able to add extra popcorn, drinks, and raffle tickets with fun prizes to win.

Our group also supported Rose by creating beautiful friendship bracelets and colourful handmade trinkets that will be available for purchase on the night.

Rose is fundraising to participate in the SOA Netball Special Olympics in October, and we are very excited to support her journey.

Yesterday in Art Group, we explored all things roses and flowers that make us feel bright, happy, and energised. Participants used acrylic paint, cotton buds, collage materials, and glue to create colourful and creative artworks. Everyone enjoyed expressing their own style.
Next week, we will start preparing our Christmas decorations – how exciting! 🎄✨ We can't wait to get creative and bring some festive cheer to the group.
Do you have art supplies at home that you no longer use? Paint, brushes, glitter, craft paper, stickers, or other creative materials? Please consider donating them to our program. We love recycling, reducing waste, and giving unused supplies a new life in our activities. 😊

In cooking class this week, we made a delicious Moroccan couscous soup. For the best flavour, it is ideal to prepare it and let it infuse overnight, allowing all the spices and ingredients to fully develop. However, even when enjoyed straight away, it was absolutely amazing!
With winter here, it is important to enjoy plenty of vegetables to help boost our energy and wellbeing. To finish our lunch, we treated ourselves to a rich and tasty chocolate mousse for dessert.
In the afternoon, we made traditional waffles served with ice cream. They were very easy to make and much more affordable than buying them from a shop. Everyone enjoyed the activity and, of course, eating the final product!

To this end, we are organizing a Fundraising Movie Night on Friday, 03/07. Bookings for the Movie Night can be made via the Humanitix link, which provides options for different packages. This event is open to all and not limited to Aaquila Care participants. We invite everyone to join in supporting Rose 💙 and encourage you to bring your family and friends. I will be attending with my children 😊 and am happy to offer childcare services at the centre.
