Still on the fence about booking in? Here are a few signs it's time to see a physio.

— You've had pain for more than a couple of weeks that isn't settling on its own
— You've had an injury that keeps coming back
— Your movement or flexibility has changed and you're not sure why
— You're post-surgery and want to make sure your recovery is on track
— You're an active person who wants to stay that way

You don't need a referral and you don't need to be in serious pain to come and see us. The earlier we can get across what's going on, the better.

First things first — good on you. A lot of people sit on it for weeks, months, or longer.

Here's what to expect when you walk through the door at Return to Performance.

Your first appointment is really a conversation and mild quick checks. We want to understand what's been going on, how long it's been happening, what you've already tried, and what you're hoping to get back to.

From there we'll do a proper assessment and put together a clear plan — no jargon, no vague advice, just a straight picture of where you're at and what we're going to do about it.

You don't need a referral. You just need to book in.

Remedial massage is something we offer right here at Return to Performance with our qualified therapist Sarah Blake, and it's more than just relaxation.

It's a targeted treatment that works on the deeper layers of muscle tissue to help relieve tension, reduce pain, improve circulation and support your overall movement and wellbeing.

It works really well alongside a physio or rehab program — but you don't need to be injured to benefit from it. If you're carrying tension, feeling restricted, or just want to give your body a proper reset, it's worth considering.

Book in at reception or give us a call.

Had knee surgery recently? Here's what the first phase of recovery actually looks like.

Hamish walks through acute management post knee surgery in this one — whether you've had a total knee replacement, cruciate ligament repair, meniscus repair or debridement.

In the early stages it comes down to four key things:
— Managing pain alongside your prescribed medication and being smart about how much load you're putting through the knee
— Swelling management through compression and elevation to start getting that fluid moving
— Improving range of movement with gentle knee sliding exercises
— Working on your walking pattern — progressively moving from non weight bearing, through to crutches, and eventually walking unassisted

Recovery after knee surgery can feel overwhelming, but there's a clear process to it. This is where it starts.

If you've recently had surgery or are preparing for one and want to know what to expect, we're here to help.

This is exercise physiology.
It's not physio, and it's not personal training — it sits somewhere in between, and for a lot of people it's exactly what they need.
Whether you're managing a chronic condition, recovering from injury, or working to improve your overall physical performance, exercise physiology is built around how your body specifically responds to movement and physical activity.
It's something we offer right here at Return to Performance — and like everything we do, it's tailored to you.

Your GP is great — but for a sports injury, a sports physio speaks a different language.
Chris breaks down why in this one. Worth a watch if you've ever wondered where to start after a knock.

Physio and exercise physiology often get mentioned in the same breath — but they're not the same thing.

Exercise physiology is focused on how your body responds to physical activity. At Return to Performance, our exercise physiology sessions are built around tailored programs designed to improve your fitness, help manage chronic conditions, and enhance your overall physical performance and wellbeing.

If you're dealing with a long-term health condition, recovering from injury, or simply looking to move and feel better — an exercise physiology program might be exactly what's missing from your routine.

No referral needed. Just give us a call.

A lot of people think rehab is mostly about rest. In our experience, it's mostly about building strength.

At Return to Performance, strength and conditioning is built into the way we approach recovery — because getting an injury settled is only half the job. The other half is making sure the muscles around it are strong enough to support you and reduce the risk of it happening again.

That's why our treatments are facilitated out of our fully-equipped gym, not just a treatment table. We want to see you moving, loading, and building capacity — at whatever level is right for where you're at.
Recovery looks different for everyone. But strength is almost always part of it.

It's one of those treatments that sounds intimidating but is more straightforward than you'd think.
Dry needling is something we offer here at Return to Performance, and it can be particularly useful for releasing tight, overworked muscles — especially in the shoulders, hips, and back.
It works by targeting specific trigger points in the muscle to help relieve tension, reduce pain, and improve the way your body moves. It's not acupuncture, and it's not a standalone fix — but as part of a broader treatment plan, it can make a real difference.
If you've been carrying tension that won't shift or dealing with persistent muscle soreness, it might be worth a conversation.
