There’s something really special about giving yourself something to look forward to 🫶🏻

Especially in a busy life, it’s easy to keep putting yourself last.

Pilates by the Mekong is 7 days where you don’t have to think about anyone else.

Just you…. movement, connection, exploring, laughing, and actually having space to breathe again.💚

It’s not about changing who you are, it’s about coming back to yourself.

🚨 Most women think pelvic floor dysfunction only means leaking when you sneeze...

But what if I told you it could also show up as:

Hip pain
Lower back pain
Constipation
Pain during intimacy
Coccyx pain
Tight hips
Anxiety and chronic stress
Feeling like you constantly need to go to the toilet

And here’s the scary part...

Many women don’t even realise their pelvic floor may be contributing to these symptoms.

🎙️ In this week’s podcast episode, I’m unpacking the hidden signs of pelvic floor dysfunction and why this topic is relevant for EVERY woman, not just mums.

We explore:
✨ The surprising events that can impact your pelvic floor
✨ Why your breathing patterns play a huge role in pelvic floor health
✨ The connection between pelvic floor dysfunction, hip pain, back pain and movement restrictions
✨ Why “just do your Kegels” isn’t always the answer
✨ How Pilates and breathwork can support a healthier, more functional pelvic floor

One of the biggest takeaways?

Your pelvic floor isn’t just about bladder control.

It’s deeply connected to your breath, core, nervous system, posture, movement quality and overall wellbeing.

If you’re a woman over 35, navigating perimenopause, recovering from childbirth, dealing with persistent aches and pains, or simply wanting to move and feel better in your body, this episode is a must-listen.

Shoulder exercises you need… 👇🏻

One thing I encourage women to focus on is maintaining both mobility and strength in the shoulders. We often think about core strength, balance and bone health, but shoulder health deserves attention too.

Here’s 6 simple Theraband exercises that can help improve shoulder range of motion, mobility and strength:

✨ Single Arm Opening
✨ Chest Opening
✨ Single Arm pull down
✨ Scarecrow
✨ Rotated Scarecrow
✨ Overhead Reach

The beauty of using a Theraband is that it’s accessible, easy to use and perfect for travelling. You don’t need a gym or lots of equipment to keep moving and looking after your body.

Aim for 10–15 repetitions of each exercise and repeat the circuit if you have time.

✔️ A little movement done consistently can make a big difference.

And here’s something many women don’t realise: frozen shoulder is a recognised symptom associated with menopause, which is another reason why maintaining shoulder mobility and strength becomes increasingly important as we age.

Save this for your next workout and let me know which exercise feels best for your shoulders 💛

If your mind feels busy, try this before you move on with your day 👇🏻

Just pause for a moment.

Inhale slowly through your nose…

Exhale a little longer than you think you need to (through your nose if you can).

Do that a few times.

💗It sounds almost too simple, but your nervous system really does respond to these small moments of calm.

This is something I often remind clients-> it doesn’t need to be complicated to be effective.

Slow, deep breaths allow you to get back to that parasympathetic state so you’re even more focused and productive if you need to be or just calm and happy. 😊

Pilates isn’t punishment… it’s about moving smarter and feeling stronger in your body. ❤️

Most people think Pilates is about moving fast or “feeling the burn”… but the real magic is control.

One of the biggest Pilates tips is this: slow down and prioritise alignment over intensity. 💯

A strong, well-connected core will always outperform rushed movement.

Try this in your next session:

✨ Exhale as you engage your deep core
✨ Keep your ribs soft (no flaring)
✨ Focus on quality, not quantity
✨Enjoy the movement!

Stop doing this in Pilates…

You might be showing up consistently but these small mistakes could be the reason you’re not seeing results.

After 20+ years of teaching Pilates, these are the things I see in every single class 👀

✨ Rushing through movements
✨ Getting too focused on reps

And more…

The good news?

They’re easy to fix once you’re aware of them.

🎙️ I break down all 5 common Pilates mistakes (and how to fix them) in my latest podcast:

What do I eat when I travel… and still feel healthy? ✈️🍝🥐

One of the questions I get asked the most is: “How do you stay healthy while travelling?”

After my recent Europe holiday, here’s the truth: I don’t aim for perfection, I aim for balance.

My healthy travel habits are simple:

✨ I pack nourishing snacks (fruit, homemade bliss balls, boiled eggs- easy wins when you’re on the go)

✨ We cook at some of our accommodation when we can

✨ I stick to the basics: protein, healthy fats and fibre to keep energy stable and hunger in check

✨ And yes… I absolutely enjoy the croissants, pasta, wine and local food experiences too 🇫🇷

Because here’s the thing: a couple of weeks away is not going to undo your health goals.

You can enjoy your holiday, eat amazing food, and still support your health and wellbeing.

For women 35+, healthy eating isn’t about restriction, it’s about consistency, balance and actually enjoying your life.

So if you’re travelling soon: stop overthinking every meal. Enjoy the destination, soak up the experience, and trust that balance works. 💗

You can’t get this from staying home.

Or staring at a screen.

Because real connection, growth, and transformation happen through experiences.

In real life. Together. 🫶🏻

Yes, our retreats are about Pilates… but they’re also about so much more.

✨ Genuine connections
✨ Unforgettable experiences
✨ Time to reset, grow, and reconnect with yourself

Imagine moving your body each day, deepening your Pilates practice, sharing incredible moments with like-minded people, and experiencing the magic of Vietnam alongside the Mekong.
