More 3 minute lunches...
This is such a crazy easy build for a disorganised day. Tasty, satisfying and balanced.
Crispbreads (I've used Ryvitas here)
Smear of ghee on each crispbread (you could use butter if that's your thang, or avocado even)
Goat cheese slices (this is the protein so don't skimp)
Left over roasted vegetables (pumpkin, capsicum, broccoli & cauliflower here)
Beautiful bowl of cherries
I thoroughly recommend having a tub of pre-roasted vegetables in the fridge. I always roast up any left over veggies from the fridge on a Sunday night for exactly moment like this.
This combo could easily go into the "oh s**t" lunch category where you've just got so much going on but you still want to honour your bod with a balanced, tasty meal. Food does not have to be complicated but it does have to be yum.

More lazy cooking!
I MUST eat well even when I don't feel like making anything. No matter where you are in your life journey this is true for you too. If we can get the food right, we have more space to focus on the more important stuff like managing our stress, good sleep, connection, working through our baggage.
Thing is, even though I have this mantra that I must eat well, I still have days when all I want is a bowl of cereal for dinner. On these days, this is the kind of lazy cooking I do (minimal prep/ chopping) instead.
INGREDIENTS (for one)

150g or thereabouts of frozen prawns

half bunch of broccolini - do nothing to this, nothing

some carrots, just peeled and sliced into quarters vertically, basically the least cuts possible

1/4 tsp dried garlic granules or flakes, yes we're going very lazy here

pinch dried chilli flakes, still being lazy

coconut aminos or tamari to serve
METHOD
- Heat oven to 50C
- Toss prawns into a bowl of water
- Throw veggies into a pan with about 1/4 cup water and a wee drizzle of olive oil. Cook with lid on, medium heat for 7 mins.
- Slide veg onto a plate and keep warm in the oven
- Drain prawns and add to pan with garlic and chilli, salt, and a drizzle of olive oil. It doesn't matter if they are not thawed out, the heat will sort that out.
- Lid on and cook for about 2-3 mins then turn and repeat. May need to take the lid off to evaporate the liquid.
- Flop the prawns onto the veg and drizzle with a little coconut aminos or tamari.
So tasty and nourishing and really couldn't be easier.
For those looking for exacts, the veg total might be in the 150-200g vicinity depending in your size, activity level, etc. All up, you'd want to use about 1Tb oil (olive or coconut would work well for this). A piece of fruit for 'dessert' and you're sorted.

What's actually better than calcium supplementation for bone health?
Brand new research from July 2026 reveals what's better than calcium supplementation for bone health: protein.
A new study found that once women had adequate dietary calcium, adding more via supplements made little difference to their bone density and strength but low protein intake was linked to reduced bone benefits.
It's a great reminder that muscle-building nutrition plays a bigger role in skeletal health than we often give it credit for.
Postmenopausal women often need way more protein than they think to protect muscle and bone as they age. There's a big jump in daily protein needs from pre-menopause to post-menopause. Did you know that? Women in their 50s and beyond need more protein that women in their 30s. Let that sink in.
So, are you eating enough protein?

It might surprise you to know how much Metabolic Balance actually reduces stress.
Not just in the body. In the mind.
One of the most common things I hear from clients once they’re into their program is that food just stops being stressful. The constant question of what should I eat, how much, is this right for me is gone. It’s all mapped out, personalised to their body, and it just makes sense.
But there’s something deeper happening too.
🥗 Three balanced meals.
🥗 Eating relatively soon after waking.
🥗 Meals at consistent times throughout the day.
This rhythm is profoundly stabilising for your stress response. It keeps blood sugar steady, which keeps cortisol steadier, which means your body spends less time in that low grade fight or flight state that so many women over 40 are living in without even realising it.
Structure isn’t restrictive. For a lot of women, it’s actually the most relieving thing they’ve ever done around food.
Does the constant question of what to eat feel like its own source of stress for you?

My latest food obsession
Really well toasted, super crunchy toast, cut into cubes, and dunked into a bowl of olive oil with a splash of balsamic vinegar (Italian style)
Just cannot get enough. There's something beautiful that happens in my brain with that crunchy... ooooo. There's been some interesting research showing that crunching released dopamine.
For those who like facts and figures, I've used buckwheat bread, a generous tablespoon of olive oil and roughly a teaspoon of balsamic vinegar. You can alternatively pre-cut the bread into cubes then blitz in the microwave until crunchy. I ate this delight as part of my lunch with protein & veg plus a serve of fruit and I 100% slurped down the left over oil and vinegar. No shame.

If you're fatigued, sleeping badly, down in the dumps, pi**ed off with the world, putting on weight, or constantly sore, that's your body trying to tell you something.

Too often, women are told their blood results are "fine." They're given generic advice that doesn't work and quietly start wondering if this is simply what getting older feels like.

It isn't.

Your hormones are shifting, and that affects everything. Your stress resilience, your insulin, your gut, your energy, and your weight. None of it is happening in isolation, and none of it is your fault.

What changes everything?

Understanding your own body. Knowing what your blood results are actually telling you. Eating in a way that's built for your biochemistry. Supporting your gut health. Managing stress in a way that's realistic and sustainable.

This isn't about trying harder.
It's about finally having the right support, the right information, and a plan that's built around you.

If you're ready to find out what's actually going on, book a quick chat or appointment so we can take a look at what's really going on and put a plan in action for you. LINK in the comments.

Your body wasn't designed for this level of constantly being 'on'.
Chronic stress affects your cortisol, your insulin, your gut, your sleep, and for women over 40, it hits harder than most people realise.
What's one thing you do to genuinely decompress?
Here's me soaking up the sun when it's warm. Bliss!

You're exhausted, overwhelmed, and doing everything right... yet nothing is shifting.
What if stress is the missing piece nobody has talked to you about?
For many women in their 40s and beyond, chronic stress doesn't just affect how you feel. It changes how your body functions.
High cortisol can increase insulin, making it easier to gain weight, especially around the middle. It can disrupt your sleep, alter your gut microbiome, increase inflammation, impact your immune system, affect blood sugar, and leave you feeling exhausted, foggy, and sore.
And during perimenopause, as oestrogen naturally declines, your body's ability to buffer inflammation also changes. Add the mental load of work, family, ageing parents, and everything else life throws at you, and it's no surprise your body starts struggling.
The important thing to remember is this:
Your body isn't failing you. It's responding to the environment it's living in.
Once you understand what's happening beneath the surface, you can start making changes that actually work with your body instead of against it.
Has stress affected your health in ways you never expected?
I'd love to hear your experience in the comments.

The Metabolic Balance program is one of the best tools I have in my clinic. It's not often I say this about clinic tools but it is literally life changing.
I get to sit here like a fly on the wall and watch my clients transform into butterflies each week. It's pretty darn special. Here's a bit of what I get to see...
🦋Better energy and stamina
🦋Easier periods
🦋Deep restorative sleep
🦋Stabilising of low mood and anxiety
🦋Easy perimenopause and menopause transitions
🦋Less joint pain
🦋Normalising of high blood pressure
🦋Improvements in heart health markers
🦋Greater strength
🦋Clearer skin
🦋No more gut reactivity
🦋Drop in autoimmune activity
🦋And, there've even been a few Metabolic Balance babies
This is a non exhaustive list of the joys that fill my day as I check in with my Metabolic Balance people but you can see why I get so passionate about this. And... this is before we've even talked about scales and tape measures.
No idea what the heck I'm talking about? Links to learn more in the comments
