Whedon et al. analyzed Medicare claims from nearly 292,000 older adults with new-onset neck pain. Patients receiving chiropractic care had a 20% lower risk of adverse outcomes compared to those treated with prescription medications. Compared to primary care without drugs, chiropractic patients still had a 14% lower risk.

RATES OF SERIOUS COMPLICATIONS, COMMONLY ATTRIBUTED TO SPINAL MANIPULATION (STROKE, VAD, FRACTURE), WERE SO RARE THEY COULD NOT EVEN BE REPORTED UNDER CMS RULES.
