Bowel cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in Australia and, importantly, one of the most preventable and treatable when detected early. Early detection through screening and awareness of symptoms can save lives.
At Brighton Regional Doctors we encourage our community to understand the importance of regular screening, particularly for people aged 50 and over or those with a family history of bowel cancer. Common symptoms to look out for include changes in bowel habits, blood in the stool, unexplained weight loss or persistent abdominal discomfort.
If you have questions, concerns or are due for screening, please talk to your GP. Early discussion and action can make a significant difference.
