This World Allergy Week, the message is, Allergy Care is Essential Care 🌎

The National Allergy Council is developing an Access to Care Guideline as part of the Shared Care for Allergy Program to help improve access to allergy care across Australia.

We believe that everyone with allergic disease should be able to access the right care, at the right time, in the right place, from the right healthcare professional(s). The Access to Care Guideline will provide practical recommendations and measures that health services can implement to enhance safety, quality, availability, equity and timeliness of allergy care for Australians.

We are excited to announce the launch of the NEW National Allergy Council’s Allergy 250K ‘The Mystery of School Island’ game, Australia’s first curriculum-aligned allergy education game! 🎉

In Australia, around one in 20 school-aged children live with food allergy, so it’s important that schools, families and young people know how to manage potentially life-threatening allergies.

🏫 The game was specifically developed for students in Years 6 and 7 to help support kids moving from primary school to high school, but anyone can play the game.

💻 Players learn about food allergy and anaphylaxis through an interactive mystery-solving experience, designed to make allergy education more engaging, relatable and memorable for young people.

Do you work in children’s education and care? It is important to know how to provide the right meal to the right child with food allergy 🍛✨

Centres must have good communication about food allergy to make sure that the right food is given to the right child. Good communication and having checks in place will help to make sure children with food allergies receive the right meal.
