A little glimpse into therapy at Building Blocks Therapy 💙💚🩷

One of our amazing therapists created this activity for a session today (shared with family consent), and it looked like so much fun!

Sometimes therapy can look like games, obstacle courses, creativity, movement, problem-solving, laughter, and connection. While it might look like “just play” on the surface, these activities are carefully designed to support each child’s individual goals in a way that feels engaging, motivating, and meaningful.

We love finding creative ways to help children build skills, confidence, participation, and independence while having fun along the way.

Every session looks a little different because every child is different — and that’s exactly how we like it.

💡 Tip Tuesday: Understanding Stimming 💡

Did you know that stimming (self-stimulatory behaviour) is a natural way many people regulate their emotions, sensory needs, and energy levels?

Stimming can look like:

✨ Hand flapping
✨ Rocking
✨ Humming or repeating sounds
✨ Fidgeting
✨ Spinning objects

For many neurodivergent individuals, stimming helps them feel calm, focused, and safe. Rather than trying to stop stimming, it's important to understand the purpose it serves and support safe ways for individuals to meet their sensory needs.

Different doesn't mean wrong—it means communication, regulation, and self-expression may look different.
