Someone you love is grieving. What can you actually say or do?
You don’t need to find the perfect words. Sometimes, simply acknowledging their loss and letting them know you’re there is enough.
Don’t be afraid to say their loved one’s name. Talking about someone who has died doesn’t make the grief worse, knowing they are still remembered can bring comfort.
Remember, grief doesn’t follow a timeline. Difficult days can come months, or even years later, often when they’re least expected.
And instead of saying, “Let me know if you need anything,” try offering something specific ...a meal, a walk, a phone call, or simply your company.
Most importantly, you don’t have to fix someone’s grief. You just have to be willing to sit alongside them in it. 🤍
This Grief Awareness Month, let’s make space for more honest conversations about grief and remember that everyone grieves differently.
