Might throw a few parents with this one 👀

Slouching doesn’t equal damage. Your best posture is your next posture.

📌 Save this and send it to the next person who tells you to sit up straight.

Christmas is coming! 🎄
We are excited to announce that we will once again be collecting gifts on behalf of the Redlands Community Centre to help bring joy to families in the Redlands! Last year we collected enough gifts to support 20 families… this year we hope to beat that number!
You can help by brining in new, unwrapped gifts for children aged 0-13. Bring them in to your physio appointment between now and the 5th of December this year.

Everyone knows that your calves are important in running… but did you know that your “calf” is actually made up of 2 muscles!!

The GASTROCNEMIUS gets most of the attention, but the SOLEUS is the quiet workhorse underneath — and it plays a HUGE role in running 🏃‍♀️

Why does it matter?

🦵 The gastrocnemius crosses both the knee and ankle
🦵 The soleus only crosses the ankle
🦵 When your knee is bent, the soleus becomes especially important for producing force
🦵 During running, the soleus handles some seriously high loads — making it a key muscle for calf capacity and running performance

So if you’re a runner dealing with recurring calf or Achilles pain, or you’re simply trying to run stronger, don’t forget about your soleus!

Tape gets a lot of attention on game day, but most people never get shown what it’s for.

Used well, it offers support while tissue settles, helps offload a cranky area, and gives you a bit of confidence to get moving again. Used as a crutch, it just delays the strengthening work that actually gets you back.

The trick is knowing which one you’re doing.

Come and see the team at Active Care. We’ll look at what’s going on, show you whether taping has a role, and teach you to apply it yourself between visits. 🩹

EKKA HOLIDAY CLOSURES 🎡

Our clinics sit across two council areas, which means two different show holidays next week:

📍 Capalaba & Victoria Point — CLOSED Monday 10 August
📍 Chermside — CLOSED Wednesday 12 August

All three clinics are back open as normal the following day.

A few things we typically see after a big day at the showgrounds: shoulder and neck soreness from carrying too many showbags, lower back stiffness from lifting kids up for a better view, and tired, blistered feet from hours on the concrete. A bit of load management and a decent pair of shoes goes a long way 😂

If you need an appointment next week, book early - the days around a public holiday tend to fill fast. Online booking link is in on our profile!

Gout Gout is out til next year after suffering a hamstring injury at training! 😮 😱

He gave a detailed update - good news he should be fine getting back to top speed, but it could take him 2-4 months to do so! As always with hamstring tears the main concern is re-injury risk 🤕
