Gritty, tired or watery eyes by the end of the day? Dry eye is one of the most common things we see, and it's estimated to affect around 1 in 5 adults.

Dr Michael Jones (Optometrist) explains how dry eye treatment works at our Coffs Harbour practice. It starts with working out why your eyes are dry. Often it's the tiny oil glands in the eyelids (meibomian glands), but screens, wind, some medications and age all play a part.

From there, options range from simple home care and drops through to in-clinic treatments, if your optometrist thinks they'd suit you. We use the Lumenis OptiLight (M22) IPL system for dry eye caused by meibomian gland dysfunction, and we also offer Rexon-Eye. Your first consultation attracts a Medicare rebate. In-clinic treatments are privately billed.

Here at RJK Optometry, the four partners who run the practice are the same people you'll see in the consulting room every week: Dr Michael Jones, Dr Pat Kelly, Dr Naomi McPherson and Dr Laura Winkler (all Optometrists).

RJK Optometry has been caring for eyes in Coffs Harbour since 1980, and between our four partners there's about 95 years of experience on the Coffs Coast.

Correct adjustments are a really important part of our dispensing process, if a frame isn't adjusted correctly it can cause discomfort which often leads to wearing the frame less. We want you to be comfortable in your specs, which is why we offer a lifetime service and cleaning on all specs!

This includes things like screw tightening, nose pad adjustments and ultrasonic cleaning to leave you and your specs feeling brand new 💥
