Thank you so much to the Adaminaby CWA for inviting our Audiologist, Sophie Robinson, to speak about hearing health. It was a lovely morning with great conversation and plenty of interesting questions.

They say you learn something new every day, and we certainly did—we discovered that dogs can get glue ear too! In particular, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are known to be affected by a condition similar to glue ear in humans 🐶

A special thank you also for the delicious sweet treats. It’s always a pleasure to sample the wonderful baking that CWA members are so well known for! 🍰🧁

If you hold a Pensioner Concession Card, you may be eligible for fully subsidised hearing services.

Our Audiologist Sophie has been out on the road again, this time in Cabramurra conducting hearing assessments for the Snowy Hydro team! 🎧

It was a fantastic few days and great to meet so many members of the Snowy Hydro team. We love working with local organisations and helping to protect workers’ hearing health 🛠️

Remember, workplace hearing tests are recommended every two years for noise-exposed workers, and baseline testing should be completed within three months of commencing employment.

We also provide custom-made hearing protection for workers who need a comfortable, reliable fit.

So pleased to share some photos of our Cooma clinic room inside Snowline Podiatry 👂

We’ve been working hard behind the scenes, and many of you will have seen the renovations slowly taking shape 🛠️

Our desk was hand made by Paul, Sophie’s husband, using timber sourced from our farm at Bunyan. We love being able to use sustainable, locally sourced materials — and so many people have commented on how great it looks! 🪵

Our booth has been a hit with everyone, and the kids love getting their hearing tested in the ‘spaceship’!! 🚀🚀

Spotlight on: Ear wax removal 👂

Ok so not the most glamorous topic… but definitely an important one!

Ear wax is actually a good thing — it helps protect your ears by trapping dust, debris and bacteria. But sometimes it can build up and start causing problems like blocked ears, reduced hearing, or even discomfort.

At Cooma Hearing, we use a gentle method called microsuction to remove excess wax. It works like a tiny vacuum cleaner, so there’s no water involved (unlike syringing), and it’s a clean and safe way to clear your ears.

Appointments take about 20 minutes, and most people walk out feeling much clearer and hearing better straight away.

The cost for microsuction is $100.

Cooma Hearing has been on the road today! 🚗

Our Audiologist, Sophie Robinson headed to Jerangle to do a talk to the wonderful members of the Jerangle-Peak View CWA. Thank you for the lovely cakes and chocolates! 🍰

Its always so nice to get out into the community, and chat about ear and hearing health. We had lots of interesting discussions ranging from ear protection, to ear wax! 👂

We're looking forward to visiting more CWA groups across the region soon 😊
