Following World Cup fever in our office, our attention is now turning to the Genuine Cup in Houston Texas next week ⚽️

A tournament bringing more than 1000 athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities from 50 countries celebrating inclusion, friendship, belonging and opportunity (also at the heart of our work at Metanoia Rays) and the power of sport on a global stage.

52 nations. 1 pitch.

In exactly seven days, the world arrives in Houston. And they aren’t just coming to play, they’re coming to prove that the beautiful game belongs to absolutely everyone.

📢 Help Shape the Future of NDIS Planning

The NDIA is seeking people with disability and plan nominees to help test a new approach to NDIS planning.

This is an opportunity to share your experiences and provide feedback on what works well, and what could be improved, to help make future planning processes more consistent, fair and participant-focused.

✅ Open to NDIS participants aged 18+ with a range of disability types and support needs
✅ Participation is completely voluntary
✅ Participants will be paid for their time and feedback
✅ Taking part will not affect your current NDIS plan, funding or supports

💛 – Checking in on Carers Matters 💛

Carers dedicate so much of themselves to supporting others every day, but who checks in on them?

A simple conversation can make a meaningful difference. Whether it's a colleague, friend, family member or fellow carer, take a moment to ask, listen and support.

At Metanoia Rays, we recognise the incredible contribution carers make to our communities and encourage everyone to make meaningful connection part of every day—not just on R U OK? Day.

It's easy to assume carers have it handled, or that someone else must be looking out for them. But 'how are you going?' is a question they don't often get asked.

So next time you're talking to someone who's caring for a loved one, ask how they're really doing. Let them know you're there if they need to vent, cry, or just talk about something completely unrelated for five minutes. And if you can, offer something practical, such as a meal, a lift, or even an hour so they can step away.

Caring for someone doesn't come with a day off. A genuine R U OK? might be the one moment in their week that's just for them. 💛

📣 NDIS Launches First Nations Connect – A Dedicated Phone Service for First Nations People with Disability

A positive step towards culturally safe and inclusive support.

The NDIS has launched First Nations Connect, a dedicated phone service designed to provide First Nations people with disability, their families, carers, and communities with a more culturally respectful and tailored experience when accessing NDIS information and support.

Developed through extensive consultation with First Nations communities, the service connects callers with trained staff who understand cultural values, community connections, and the unique experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This initiative reflects the ongoing commitment to improving accessibility, building trust, and ensuring all Australians can access the support they need in a way that respects their culture and identity.

First Nations people seeking NDIS help can now call a new phone line, established to provide a more culturally respectful, tailored experience with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).
